Just to let you know. This concern has been around for a long time with respect to power poles and cell phones. No conclusive evidence to prove. The best you can do to minimize radiation exposure would be to not get too close with the digital camera and use the zoom a bit. The only thing I can think of that may be bad would be the flash and the higher frequency noise that babies may hear (that we adults do not). I don't know what your mother saw. I've been taking digital photos of my nieces and nephew since they were babies. Haven't seen any side effects. So I don't have anything at this time to validate your mothers concerns.

If the digital camera does not send out a signal like a cell phone with a digital camera, then it's no more dangerous than the TV I'm sure she parks the kid in front of.

I agree with the previous posters who all say cameras are safe. I've never even heard of the flash being bright enough to be dangerous to the eyes. Just make sure you never take apart a camera because there's an electrocution hazard in the flash (light, not memory) circuit.

no that is complete rubbish.
da digital cameras simply record da light coming to it . and your eyes do the same thing. so there's no difference between taking a picture of something and looking at it with your eyes.
How ever the flash light on the camera may be harmful to the babies eyes if looked directly at it. (because its really bright and goes off suddenly ) so be careful about that .

They do not use radiation, that information is complete B.S. cellphones can cause it but only certain service providers.
