you cant change him when he doesn't want to be changed himself. If you really want to help, you have to make him realise that he has been spending too unwisely. Talk to him, if not write him a note.

Tell him that you wont lend him money for betting. be direct and let him know that your money is not to be wasted in gambling. Help him budget if possible.

Don't even start giving him money...you do it one time- he will expect you to do it each and every time. Do not continue seeing this guy. ...he seems pathetic. Believe me- I've been there...an ex of mine used my ATM card without my permission. I was very young back then...now and then I still have night mares about him. You can't change someone like that...he's been conditioned to believe that people have the obligation to help him out when he is short of money. Maybe his parents are sick and tired of it. Now he wants to abuse you financially.

your friends are probably right. he is gonna start just using you for money. If he really loved you he wouldn't be after you for money after HE bet his away. he has a gabling addiction and needs help./ if he doesn't get it he will be in a whole hell of a lot of trouble and if you stay with him you will be in the same dangerous boat as him.

If he's like that were he's not responsible w/his finances why would u want him?Just wondering? That would be a big future problem if u stick with him and he doesn't know how to handle money.

i love football too .... but you were right not to give him money.

If he can't support his own gambling habit ..... it's time to stop, if it gets to be a serious problem you could suggest he go to gambler's anonymous meetings ....... but he seems like type that probably wouldn't admit he has problem.

If he continues to prompt you for cash,
then make it clear to him you don't approve, and if his problem still persists you might want to just steer clear.
