You take a thing called "Kosokbusu". It is a long distance bus that will take you from Seoul to Busan for a very reasonable price. (~$18/First Class : Takes 5hours) And this is the CHEAPEST way to go. It is quite comfortable as well. They stop by couple rest areas along the way where you can eat, shop etc.

Taking a train is nice and relaxing too. ($28~$21/ depending on class : Takes 4hrs 30min to 5hrs 30min/ depending on class).

Personally though, I would take a plane since it saves so much time and the cost is not too different. For about $38 to $50 bucks you can get to Busan from Seoul in less than an hour. Is 20 bucks worth saving 4 hours for you? If so, then I'ld take a plane. If you would like to check out the landscape, people, rest-stops etc, then I would take a bus.

Once you get to Busan terminal, just take a taxi to where ever you need to go.

When you go to Busan, (and if you are not shy about being naked front of strangers) be sure to visit Dongnae Oncheon, they have the best Spa in Asia, possibly best in the world. I'm thinking about visiting Korea, just to hit up the spas again. ^_^

Have fun!

P.S. Keep in mind the prices I listed above were the prices back in 2002, when Gas price was MUCH cheaper, so... maybe It will cost a bit more now.

The previous question, was very very imformative and helpful.
I personally like to take the bus. Prices havent changed much since the previous answerer was there, just a mere 1,000 won.

KTX is a bit of a rip-off, sure it only takes 2 and a bit hours, but its really not that comfortable, and from Daegu to Busan, its the same speed as a normal train.

Havent flown there, I tend to just take the bus.
