Our planet is overcrowded, you can't deny that. The fact that millions are dying of AIDS and epidemics, are dying of thirst and hunger and exposure, are dying from killing each other in wars and violence. If humans want a better way of life instead of living like the native americans did, then you gotta decrease the numbers to levels where we wont kill our Earth.

Why do so many religions encourage huge families? And discourage birth control. I don't care what faith you are, everybody likes sex.

I deny that!!! By what criterion do you claim that the Earth is overcrowded? The current population of the earth divided by the habitable land gives each man woman and child more than 5 acres of land to live on. Additionally the biomass of insects alone is 30 times the biomass of the human population of the Earth. The number of birds on the Earth GREATLY outnumber humans by at least 17:1.
If you truly believe that the Earth is overcrowded, I suggest that you start killing as many animals as you can as soon as possible.

Religions don't encourage huge families. The average life span of humans has increased too. Its not the religions to be blamed for good family values either. Good family values promote healthy productive dignified lives for man and woman alike. What needs to be done is promoting better family planning. Having promiscuous casual sex is the cause of negative population growth in the west. People are not willing to be in commited relationships and its all about sex. Where there are commited relationships there are bound to be children. Are you suggesting an animal like existence instead of good family morals?

The world is not overcrowded. FACT: If you took everyone in the world and moved them to Texas and gave them equal portions of land, they would each have about two acres. The cities are overcrowded and populated because of two reasons. Only 45% of the land masses on earth are habitable (unless of course you are very hardy and come from a long line of cultural survivors there,) and people are greedy with the land that is habitable.

War, famine, natural catastrophies, and epidemic diseases along with natural and accidental death keeps the earth from exploding in population. It's almost like we are a bacterial infection with our animal friends, and the earth keeps taking antibiotics to kill most of us off.

It was all written about long before the earth was over populated. Most people wont alter the ideas of their religions. They live like the antiques that their religions are. Actually those faiths made sex a bad thing unless you were trying to make kids to increase their population base. Religion really is about power far more than beliefs.

First thing is by multiplying it does not mean increasing progeny.
It simply means increase the number of followers of this faith in other words follow it with so much care and dignity that others try to become like you and in turn adopt your faith. In Hinduism,Jainism and Buddhism I have read that they give too much importance to celibacy. It clearly says that give birth only if your country needs your kids and you can provide better citizens.

first off there is no overpopulation

their is enough food to feed everyone on earth if we did not have politics stopping it.

people 100 years ago did not think the world could support 4 billion people now we have over twice that number and it dose not look like society is breaking down.

the fact is as science develops we will have better and better ways to feed humanity. We might need to priorities the birth rate but their is no need to slow it down.

I am Praying. Christ said in Matthew 9:22: "Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole." 9:20:"He was speaking the woman which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 9:21:"For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole." 9:22: "But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy Faith hath made thee whole." And the woman was made whole from that hour."
Prayer is the way we touch Jesus Christ, therefore Pray.

I would recommend that that you read the King James version of the Bible. It contains the answers to your questions.
God the Father knew you before you we born in eternity past and when you were formed in your mother womb. We are born with a Soul that will live for eternity. We must decide as a free will agent to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior or not.
Our decision determines whether we spend eternity in Heaven or Hell.
I Pray that you make the right decision.
Jesus Christ Loves You.
God Bless you is my prayer.
David

I don't understand it, either. You would think that common sense would override some religious teachings, when you see that we HAVE multiplied, to the point where we need to decrease significantly or risk losing this planet in the not-to-distant future.

Human number is needed to prove the judgement day and it is the way to make it happen faster so you will believe that religion is true.

They are trying to overpower rest of the world by population. They think the number of people are their success. They go for quantity not quality.
