Glass's Motoring Guide is the industry standard for second hand/used cars. It provides info for buyers & sellers. It's available in hard copy at WH Smith, etc (as far as I know) & online at http://www.glass.co.uk/
You can get some basic info from Glass's site for free & a more detailed idea at a small cost.

eBay like-for-like comparrison is not a bad idea either.

http://www.kbb.com/

and

http://www.nada.com/

and

http://www.edmunds.com/

and

http://www.autotrader.com/

I have bought and sold over 10 cars there with no bad experiences. But make sure you read the sites suggestions about how to SAFELY buy and sell. I was contacted by someone who was "out of country" and wanted to "send a proxie to buy it using check". I said just bring cash and we will do business and I never heard from them. There is a check scam out there that originates out of country. But then the AutoTrader buying and selling tips warn you of that among other tips!

By referencing Auto Trader against KBB and NADA you get a real good idea of what cars are ACTUALLY SELLING FOR! Because though Kellys is good they don't always reflect what you will actually be able to get. The market fluctuates faster than they print. KBB and NADA is what Dealers go by but the private prices can vary a little more (or a LOT more). Do your research and you will do well.

The National Automobile Dealer Association has a great website for checking the value of new and used vehicles.

http://www.nada.com

Also, Kelley Blue Book has online pricing for new cars and used car values.

Kelly's Blue Book. They will show you the price it is worth as a Trade In, Private Seller (you selling it), and the price when sold by Dealer!

More than likely you will personally get the best amount out of selling it yourself. Go to the site and type in the information.... make, model, trim, mileage, condition, options, etc.
