I dont have that problem.my man openly hugs,kisses and holds my hand in public places.That is because he loves me,and is proud of me.Men who dont are embarrased of their girlfriends,and dont truly love them.

Some men like to show affection in public and some don't.
We are all different. I won't say it's right or wrong, but I don't believe it is because he is embarrassed of being with you.
Some people just feel more comfortable with showing their emotions in private places.
With every partner there will be things that you want to change about them. No one is perfect.
The question is, how strongly do you feel about hugging/kissing in public? Is it something that you can learn to live without? I know from previous experience that this is a very difficult if impossible trait to change.
If everything else is good between you, then maybe you need to compromise on this one thing. There's just no point trying to force him into situations that he's not comfortable with.

I think he's just shy and embarassed by pda. Like my bf and I give little kisses, hugs, and hold hands in public. But it's nothing like what we do alone or at home. If he still kisses, and touches you when the two of you are together alone or where ever, then I wouldn't let it bother you.

My first thought would be that he is shy, some people do not like public displays of affection, How is he when you are alone? If the situation bothers you, why not ask him about it, he is the one that holds the answer, good luck!

As many already said, some people (including me) are not comfortable with public display of affection.
Moreover, I find it gross to do so, knowing that some people seeing you doing so are alone in life and suffering as such. Imagine how they feel when they see people having what they don't have and rubbing it at their face?

A goodbye kiss or hug is OK. But anything long and sexual is just obscene unless you are drunk in a meat market. (Bar) Or maybe he just is shy or doesn't want people to know anything about his business or relationships. Maybe I'm old fashioned!

Is it only in places he'd expect someone to know him? Or would it also be in a city 200 miles away or on holidays?
Anyway he probably has a mental problem, more or less serious. Speak to him about - I don't think it should keep you off getting involved.
