I know Atheists what they are like. But how can some of them become Satanists? Satanists worship Satan, this means they believe in the doctrine that God created Lucifer and he fell and became Satan. This means that Satanists do believe in God (if not worship him). I also want to know what sort of life principles do Satanists follow? How do they live their lives?.....Just curious

I am an atheist and a Satanist.

Modern Satanism, or LaVey Satanism, is NOT devil worship like so many have a tendancy to believe.

Most of us are atheists; we don't believe in the christian devil. We believe in ourselves. Every human is their own god, they are free to accept it or not.

We are animals, sometimes better, oftentimes worse than the ones who walk on all fours, and we have carnal instincts.

The Satanist philosophy is based a lot on hedonism, and on Nietzsche's texts.

Anton Szandor LaVey, the father of modern Satanism, wrote The Satanic Bible, and many other books.

There are many principles to Satanism, all of them based on common sense and logic.

These are the Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth:

1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.

2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.

3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.

4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.

5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.

6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.

7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.

8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.

9. Do not harm little children.

10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.

11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.

There are more principles to it, but it's too long to explain. Please visit the official Church Of Satan website (Anton Szandor LaVey founded the Church Of Satan in 1966) for further information.

Most people believe that Satanists worship Satan but, that's not true. Mainstream (LaVeY) Satanists are also atheists, they don't actually believe that Satan exists. There are other smaller denominations of Satanism that may in fact believe Satan actually exists, just like Christianity has many denominations with widely different beliefs from one another.

The following was written by a Satanist:

Satanism can be considered to be:

- Atheistic. There are no Gods in Satanism.

- Not dualistic: souls and bodies are indivisible and there is no war between cosmic good and cosmic evil

- Autodeists - we worship ourselves. The only God we can ever perceive is in our own existential world. We are each a God.

- Materialistic

- A "human potential" movement. Striving for longer life and a better education. Science And Technology Are Necessary: We who walk this dark path along with the same interests will pursue the elimination of Human limitation to the maximum

- Of the left hand path

- Opposition of religions, especially those that hold a belief in an afterlife. Satanism is an un-religion. Satanism adopts the adversaries of major religions as its standard bearers

Also:

- Only the self is sacred. Nothing is holy except clarity of thought

- Satanists do not pray

- Meditation is considered a valid path of self discovery

- Stupidity is the cardinal "sin" of Satanism, the sin which is believed to cause all other Human evil

Satan is not a real, living entity, conscious or a physical thing that can be interacted with. It is a symbol, something ethereal, something that basically doesn't exist except as an emotional attachment and personal dream. Just like Buddhists do not worship Buddha, Satanists hold up Satan as an ultimate principal rather than an object of literal worship. Satan inspires and provokes people, like all (honest) religions the ultimate point is self-help. God believers have a different opinion on what Satan is, but their opinion is a result of their religion. Satanism's Satan is much more eclectic and multicultural than to be defined by Christianity or Islam.

The bible is imcomple since the people that putted it together took out numerous parts of it uncluding parts that would show that the church has always been a political agency and has always tried to cover up things that would put in doubt the belief of believers and the power of the church. Also where does it say its the word of god besides in it since it was written by man how would you know whats real or not god is a symbol this world is god gives life and takes it away nothing else and yet we choose to kill it. I mean jesus might be the self proclaimed son of god but still a man that means he could have been married and have kids to me he was a mere human with a big story. Besides he died for our sins and were still sinners and if we have free will its because god gave it to us so its his fault we sin.In other words we sin becaause of him there is always a choice and we choose to do wrong we are evil i say evil. There is no god only the present the only one that can give shape to ur life is you no one else. And actually satanists dont mean that they worship the devil Satanism is a separate religion, its no different from Buddhism, Wicca, Taoism, and others. The reports you hear about satanists sacrificing animals, engaging in mignight orgies, burning churches, etc. are URBAN MYTHS. People who commit such acts are called anti-Christian, not satanists. by damalber

Anti-Christians are people who do things that desecrates christianity

Satanists are actually atheists, by the strict sense of the word, according to the Satanic bible. They do not actually worship Satan at all, since that would be to admit that there is a God who created Satan. They are secular humanists. The term "Satanists" understandably throws us off and brings on assumptions. There are very few people who truly worship Satan. These are mostly teenagers trying to be cool. Remember, according to the Scriptures, Satan hates anyone made in the image of God, whether they worship God or not. Whether they do good or evil, he hates them, because they are made in God's image.

Why compare satanists and atheists? Athiests don't believe in any deity or religion so what do they have to do with this question? It seems insulting.
