Is there an unspoken rule regarding elevator etiquette where people waiting to go into an elevator should wait for those to off load and not bum rush them! What is your take? Thanks

:) Thanks for your answers, just verifying that my frustration at those who bum rush me when I am trying to get off the lift is justified and that there is truly an unspoken rule with it! I actually got so mad at this guy one time that I purposely ran over his foot and yelled "Scuse ME!!!"

Wait for the people to get out..then get inside..It applies to other modes of transportation as well like bus, train, etc.

that only makes since.. If the ones inside dont get out, then you cant get in. My thing has alaways been more like who enters fist, due to theres never a line, just some sort of crowd. Anyhow though. Think about it. Its simple replacement. You cant replace somthing without first removing it..

There is no etiquette, its everyone for themself.

If you are inside the elevator getting off and ppl are bum rushing in, you just stick out your elbows and jar your way out.

sometimes I use a knife, it gets better results than the elbow.
consequently, no one rides the elevator with me anymore.

Let people offload first. They are in a hurry to get out because of the guy who just farted in there. And people waiting to enter should wait a little while until it clears, as well. It's for the best.

of course it's common sense. if the people don't come out first then there will not be enough space for the ones about to go into the lift. so logically the ones in the lift should be allowed to go out first.

Yes, the ones exiting should be allowed to go first and the ones getting on should wait patiently.
