Yes I do. It has been for some time. They have the best government money can buy just like we do. The problem is they don't have the buying power we do or the economic base to support it. Mexico's economy is booming? And industry is booming? As compared to what? Guatamala? Nicaragua?
And climb down off that high horse. Because I was born here doesn't make me special, just legal. Because my ancestors came here legally doesn't make me special, just legal.
Mexico's government may or may not be corrupt. But I don't see too many people running the to Mexico except for a vacation.

Do you really buy that? Mexico's govt is corrupt all the way to the top. The PRI stole election after election. There were demonstrations on the border after each election , for years.
Don't slam my govt. Trafficante was prosecuted, as were Nixon's cohorts.
Mexico has many of the same problems it had before the revolution. The power elite corrupted the law and the poor have no recourse. A sealed border would actually be a benefit to Mexicans, in the long run if, IF, they have the guts to force change.

Democracy in name only, I'm afraid. The corruption dealt in becoming elected is quite huge in Mexico. Once you're in, don't get in the way as the corrupt ones. sweep the riches of Mexico into their own pockets. Rape, Rob, Pillage and Plunder seems to about cover it all. One could argue that their more commoner breathern coming up North to the USA, have seen that style and are only following the suit of their own country's leadership.
Monkey see, monkey do.
No real disrespect meant. Simply put, the citizens of Mexico, really don't know any better than to act in the way they do. That is, to not respect the belongings and laws/rights of others (Ill immigration). But they can be taught and when they go through the legal process they learn and can become great citizens who contribute a great deal.

they might have a booming economy, yet the money isnt the same there as it is here. the highest paying job there doesnt really pay for anything. things that we find cheap here, are more than likey 10x more expensive there. 5 dollars for a box of cereal. there arent enough jobs even if you think so. the location of these jobs isnt always in the city or the country where most people live.
they are working to support a family, just like everyone else. they take the jobs some people dont want. they do them even if they dont like them. here in america, you can inherit money, in mexico, as in other countries, you wont ever inherit money. many of them come over so they can raise money to build a house, pay for school for the children in mexico (its not free over there), and then when they have all that, they return to their families. they dont believe in abandoning family, just like many people do here.

They come here to work for a better life-Mexico is not as glamourous as you make it sound. I'm not saying that it's okay that they come here undocumented, but it is hard to make it in Mexico. You're either wealthy or you're dirt poor. The way you become wealthy is you either get really lucky or you inherit it. Otherwise, your life is doomed because there is no climbing the social ladder if you're not already up there. Again I'm not supporting crossing the border, but I also do not support maltreatment of these people once they are in the states, especially if they have been here for years providing services.

Mexico has a reputation for having fixed elections and corrupt offocials. Yes it is true that USA is slowly getting the same reputation. I have always feared that what Bush and his ilk want is for us to be mroe like mexico with two classes, very rich and very poor. gated communities of rich with guard dogs and ghettos of poor taking busses to their janitor and maid jobs for the rich etc etc. this is what seems to be happening.
i would prefer that mexico become more like the America of the middle of the 20th century than we become like them.
the last half of the 20th century has seen a diminishment of the quality of life for the average person in USA and an increase for the average person in mexico. we are getting more alike but we are going the wrong direction. we should be pulling them up, not let them pull us down.
