Try getting into a relaxing routine that you do every night before you go to bed. For example, make a habit of taking a relaxing bath right before you hit the sack, or reading something relaxing or listening to soft music for 30 minutes. Anything that relaxes you - even if it doesn't seem like you're tired. If you have a lot of thoughts in your head at night and your thinking keeps you awake because you can't focus on relaxing, try to write your thoughts down in a journal every night before you go to bed. This will help you get things off of your chest so that you can maybe forget about them at least to sleep.
Your body might not adjust right away to these things (like for the first few nights) but if you do these things regularly, eventually your body will recognize that it's chill time and it'll be easier for you to go to sleep at night!
Also, make sure you're being reasonable with your bedtime. If you have been making it a habit to go to bed at 3 a.m. for a week or two and all of a sudden you want to go to bed a couple hours earlier than that, your body might not be adjusted and think you still have a few more hours to kick. Try to make sure you have a routine, and if you somehow have to break it try your best to resume the routine (including your wake-up time too!!) as soon as possible. This way your body won't get confused!
If things like this don't work and it becomes a chronic problem, I would see your doctor.

Keep your room dark a nd quite; adjust the room temperature to your comfort level, avoid adventure stories and movies just before bedtime, have your dinner atleast trwo hours before bedtime, drink a warm glass of milk, avoid tea, coffee and alcoholic beverages at bedtime, take a warm shower and sleep in a comfortable wrinkle free bed, try reading scriptures or say a small prayer, maintian a adequate sleep and activity routine, try relaxation techniques like deep breathing exercises, and if after you have tried all these techniques you are still not able to sleep, go to a doctor. Pills are better than the side effects of sleep deprivation

Even when extremely tired, most people have great difficulty sleeping between 9 and 11 AM. - quote from Do Fish Drink Water
Normally when I need to go to bed, I take a hot shower and turn on some soft music. Mabey you should try it?

Here are a few ideas that might work.....Try drinking a cammomile tea 1 hr before bed, you can also try playing a CD with a tropical rain forest, soft classical or even a relaxation one, and also try putting a few lavender or cammomile candles in your room......All of these things have helped myself and my children fall asleep and stay asleep......Good Luck with your sleep!!!!!

Golden slumbers
kiss your eyes,
Smiles wait you
when you arise.
Sleep, pretty baby,
Do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby.
Cares you know not,
For now you sleep,
While over you,
a watch I'll keep.
Sleep, pretty darling,
Do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby.
