No, I don't. I don't think it's dumb to celebrate any holiday at anytime. It's not the calendar that makes a moment special. It's the loved ones around us. If they can only be together during a certain time, that's enough to celebrate in my book. ;-)

My cousin did this for her little boy and although I didn't interfere, I didn't think it was right. I'm not a party pooper, it's just that this little boy is only 3 and I don't think he would understand at this age anyway.

When his birthday does eventually arrive in December he will not be getting as many presents as he would have because he got them six months ago. He had a party, but was still 3. When other kids have a birthday party, they get a little bit older. When he is four, he is going to wonder why he has got nothing. At that age, trying to explain that he got his gifts 6 months ago is going to be difficult.

For a younger child, I would suggest buying gift vouchers as a present, then taking the child out in June and buying them something they really want. That way, a whole year doesn't go by without them getting nothing and they will still get something when their birthday comes round again.

As for older kids, then I see no harm in a 1/2 birthday. They are more able to understand.

I think if you call it a half birthday then why not. December birthdays get the shaft because of Christmas. Some people give you one present for both Christmas and the birthday, and they think it is ok. Besides children born in the winter (especially in the north) never get to have a party outside or a pool party for that matter. Go ahead and celebrate!

No, not really. Whatever the parents want. If that is the way they have settled on to make their child feel special and loved, and to give that child attention and special affection for the day, then I think that's great. Not only that, but people who have birthdays in December often get second rate birthdays because all the focus is on Christmas, so people will fob them off with less presents by rationalizing that they'll get a ton of stuff for Christmas.

I had a friend in school who had another birthday-type celebration because it was what they called her "conception day". That freaked me out a bit, because while I think it's a lovely sentiment to celebrate the conception of a child, I couldn't help but think they were celebrating their parents having sex....Disturbing for a kid, let me tell you.

No i have friend who has done that her whole life. She just decclares it her "birthday" becuase her birthday is like right (2 or 3 days) before christmas. I honostly think its brilliant. Thats what i will do if i have a child with a birthday so close to christmas. I fell people who have christmas and birthday in the same month, are cheated.. And the closer to christmas the more cheated they are.

No I don't. In fact, my son's girlfriend has a birthday on Christmas. Every Halloween, her parent's host the largest party in town. EVERYONE wants to be invited. it's the party of the year. It is also HER birthday party. It's great. Everyone must dress up to attend and we celebrate her birthday at Halloween instead of Christmas. This way no one combines her gifts and she gets a great party. (why Halloween? It's her favorite holiday)

I think that everyday should be a celebration of life.Celebrating a half time birthday is fine. There is half time celebrations in football. It is no better or worse than pre boxing day sales that start in September, end on Dec.24 and then on DEc.26 we have boxing day sales that last at least a month.Go ahead and celebrate it in June.HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY .

No, not really...especially if the birthday is really close to christmas time! The birthday person needs to have their own special day, not one that is combined with another big holiday!!

I think it is cool! I wish my parents would let me do that. I never had more than 1 birthday part in life because of my birth date. 12/26 sucks. I think it is awesome. so don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
