It causes flyaways. Instead of thinning, try other things. I like using coconut oil on my curls- it masks all my split ends and is incredibly light. It will also tame those flyaways. The only things that I know cause split ends are chemical damage (perms, color, sulfates in the shampoo), natural damage (sun, wind, heat, acid rain), and internal health (dehydration means dry hair, not eating means your hair gets no nourishment). You can tame split ends by oiling them while dry, sleeping in a braid, keep it covered when the weather is harsh, and eat your veggies and protien.

if the (funky) scissors are pulled thru the hair - yes.
the thinning (the funky ones) scissors should be used at the bending point of the hair so it doesn't grow bigger and the hair should be cut then the scissors to be taken out and NOT slid down the shaft.

if done with a razor then a new blade should be used for each client. i've been known to use up to 3 blades for one client. there are also cutting lotions that should be used on super curly hair.

it is not a good idea to have it straightened very often. once a month is about all it should be done. (for super curly hair)
using flat iron products will help it be not SO curly.

No. You are cutting the hair ends. However, it takes longer for the hair to grow back out so, depending on how well you take care of your hair the split ends may be all that you see. Trimming your hair every 6 to 8 weeks max is recommended to keep from getting split ends. Even if you only trim an eighth of an inch it will help it to stay looking healthy and keep it growing.

Split ends occur when the ends aren't trimmed, and the hair is too roughly combed. I get my hair thinned regularly and it isn't a problem.

It won't cause them but when it comes time for a trim you won't be able to get all the ends cause they will be all diffferent lengths.
