Pray to the Lord for His strength, wisdom, and will to be done.
Is it possible that God may have placed you there by design? Yes it is. You may be their only hope for every coming to the Savior. If they died tonight in their sins, where would they spend eternity? If the Lord gave you the chance, are you ready to share Jesus Christ with them? Notice, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." is not a gift, it is a command. If we love the Lord, we will do what He commands. If we love Him as we say, we will pray to Him, not that our life would be made easier, but that He would give us the grace and strength to be a light in a dark place. Read Matthew Ch. 6 before your head hits the pillow tonight.

Well I am not a Christian but heres my advice. In the world there will always be corruption, "sin" as some might call it. As long as you do right by god that is what really counts. You are there to make an honest living. Stay out of the bad converstations and dont associate yourself with those people that are talking bad, smoking etc.. If you really feel uncomfortable then maybe you should consider working somewhere else.

If you feel like it would be better or if people really do make you feel that uncomfortable then mabey it would be better for you to leave. If you think that you can take it, what a wonderful ministering opportunity you have. First off it will not help you if you constantly gripe at people for the small offenses that they cause you. I am not saying for you to be a doormat, if you are harrased in anyway then you should report it. But sometimes you can reach people by not participating in the same things that they do ,but still be loving and caring and happy but not judging the choices they make. If you become someone they trust and like being around then they will see that not all christians are stuck up prudes. Who did we see Christ spending his time with. Your judgemental church-members who are still sinners, just better at hiding it *OR* the prostitutes, tax collectors, and other sinners who already know how others see them? Remember you can be in the world and not of the world at the same time.

Most people would tell you to quit and find work in a more suitable Christian environment. But that's not my advice, I believe as Christians we should not isolated ourselves from the world, instead we should bump shoulders with it. If your co-worker's activities make you that uncomfortable, you need to take a stance and let it be known that you are a Christian.
It may make them feel uncomfortable next time they light up or use curse words.
Perhaps you announcing your faith will instill a level of tact in the workplace.
Hopefully behaviors will change or subside and all co-workers will understand why you don't cuss or smoke dope.
Stick it out and show them Christians exist loud and clear..

If you need the income, stay. Your belief in God should get you through it. Sadly, there are lots of places where Christians face this sort of problem, and you can't really escape just by quitting.
You are entitled to your beliefs, just try and remember so is everyone else. Your work environment is probably not a good place to try and 'spread the word' too much because for one thing your boss may not like it.
One comment you made concerns me...the smoking dope. If that place is that bad, I really would look for other work soon. Good luck with your decision.

this is the way most people are now.
i can understand not wanting to be around excessive swearing and stinking pot smoke, but that's the way most people are now.
there has to be someone there who doesn't act like that. maybe someone you wouldn't suspect. finding that person might make that job more bearable. if you have children you don't want to just quit. the bible doesn't say anything against smoking weed anyway.
don't take this in a negative way, but if you're in america, most people haven't been worth a dime since 1975. that's the way people are.
you won't get away from it either(unless you're raptured) so there's no trying that. outside of dropping out of society and going to the wilderness to hunt, gather and plant, you're stuck. i'm not trying to be mean, i'm just telling you the truth. i'm not saying you have a martyr complex, but if you do, drop it.
this is the end time and people suck. this is the end time and it's a nasty place filled with insensative people. this is the end time and people are out to screw each other over because they suck.
take heart. your lord will show you the proper course.

(it is probably best not to rely on the opinions of random people on the internet as to if you should keep your job or quit. you are the one who is going to have to live with the consequences, so it is probably best if you are the one to make the decision.) my suggestion is as follows:
pray and ask God. tell him how you feel about it, the pros and the cons as you know them, and what you think you ought to do, and ask him if that's correct. then listen. really listen, in your heart-like. if you are all confused and can't decide, and have a hard time thinking about it, or forget what you were going to do - don't. if you feel in your heart and your mind good about it, happy and at peace, go forward with your plan. God may even give you some additional information, or give you some thoughts on the matter that may be different than what you expected, or that will help you to see a bit more clearly to make the decision.
best wishes!

Being a christian on this earth isn't a easy thing; but we have to encounter all walks of life. Everytime we encounter certain situations we don't like we can't just throw in the towel for sin is all around us. But there still comes a time when we have to take a stand. If this job has to much profanity and unplesant conversatons by all means be looking for something else. But don't quite your job until you have another one and ask God for directions.

I too work in a restaurant setting and can identify strongly with your situation. The best thing to do is stick it out, God gave you the job for a reason! Be salt and light in what sounds like a very dark place. Pray that you will be given opportunities to show God's love and mercy and everything will be fine!

There is not one answer that is right for all christians. If you think you may be led astray then by all means get out. However if you can stay obedient, think of the opportunity to sow some seeds. Don't expect them to obey our rules. Our main responsibility is to share the gospel with them. Don't beat them up with it. Live your life and be an example. If someone confides in you, you have an opportunity. Theres an old saying that nobody cares how much you know unlees they know how much you care. Remember we are not better than them. God loves them as much as us. You may not see the fruit of the seeds you plant. In his time he will make it grow.
