Also check out some of the Portland sites
The Japanese garden is one of the most beautiful in the world! Our Chinese garden was designed by craftsmen from China. Forest Park is the largest urban park in the world stretching from inside Portland to the coast. We also have the worlds smallest park. We have great restaurants, particularly ethnic and vegetarian. The Portland Zoo is among the highest rated with the first ever successful captive elephant breeding program. Saturday Market is a market full of hand crafted goods. Our farmers market program means that on most days there is a market of farm fresh food somewhere in the city. We have an excellent public transport system that can get you virtually everywhere you want to go for very little cost and you can buy a day ticket, which works like a pass for the entire system for the day. Multnomah Falls is nearby and beautiful. Oh, and don't forget Powells books the largest bookstore west of the Mississippi. There you can find books on just about anything you'd like to see in either Portland, Oregon or the West coast. There is a branch in the airport, but you should definitely stop by their store on Burnside. It's overwhelming to some people.

Well I would like to say that I lived in the Oregon Area for over 8 years. I have travelled 48 states and the BEST yes that's right the best place in the us (my opinion of course) Is Oregon. Portland being the best city. No Pollution, people there are amazingly cultural minded, the scenary is just breath taking.

you can drive an hour outside of Portland and be somewhere differant, ocean, mountains, hotsprings, dry lands.

Should visit Mt. Hood for sure, deffinatley the coast (water is a little cold)

the only thing that some people may say is that yes it does rain alot, but there is a lot of pluses to that. and the sun does come out. and when it does, your in Heaven. Have fun and it will be the best vacation that you won't forget. Take Care.

Go to Mt. St, Helen's instead. The visitors center on the north side is really cool and on the south/southeast are some cool caves called the ape caves and 3 separate lakes, all with camp grounds and boat launches. Then keep going south to Portland which won't be that far away and visit the city and the zoo before heading west to visit tillamook OR before finishing off at the ocean somewhere like Rockaway Beach or Canon Beach.

Well if you was to see all those things you picked the right state to do it in. Oregon's got all that. Not all in Portland you'd have to travel some. I don't go into Portland much, way to big for me. But a few places I have been to and enjoyed are O.M.S.I. AKA Oregon Museum of Science and Industry., It's more for kids and people who like that kid of thing. I love go every time one of my kids go on a field trip.

The other is "The Portland Spirit" It's a cruise ship that offers dining and site seeing.
My Husband and I went a few years back and loved it, it's definitely a couple thing.

I live in Tualatin an every weekend head in a direction different than the week before. If you like it hot ,hot ,hot ,then we have the high deserts in madras an further east. If you like it moderate then the coast is pretty nice around 70 to 80 with ocean breezes so make sure you bring the sunscreen! All along the gorge is beautiful with the bands of ancient lava flows. Fall is good if you want to see the deserts but don't want to bake! Spring is my fav cause the Japanese gardens are in bloom! hope you have a great time no matter what direction you head in!

It actually doesn't start raining a lot till early November. People tend to have a misconception about Portland that it rains all the time.

Do check out Washington Park and the Rose Garden. It's beautiful.

That region of the states is wonderful to visit. Take a look at the trip we did in that area by following the link (Portland is the red dot at the bottom left of the map).

Visiting the Oregon Coast is a must. The beauty is unmatched. Cannon Beach on the Northern Coast is especially secluded and rugged. Very nice place for a honeymoon or just a quiet getaway.

A word of warning though: if you do visit the coast, you may never want to go home! ;)

you cant really swim... (yeah i have never swam in the ocean)
and then theres lots of things to do in downtown portland, there's a smalll amusment park a couple of museums
o and you can maybe go boating on the Columbia River, though i have never done that before....
O yes and also... why else is Portland called the City of Roses?
There is the Gardens, (Japanese, chinese, rose...)
for shopping, try out washington square mall, about 10 minutes out of downtown, or Woodburn company stores. thats about 20 miles out.
