It won't change as long as there are greedy companies hiring these people for $3 an hour.
Someone has to pay for politician's campaigns, who do you think pays for those?

It is my current understanding that the Senate Bill proposed originally by T. Kennedy is dead. (thank GOD!)
What is now happening in the USA is that our immigration laws that preceeded the Sen. bill mentioned above, are being enforced to a greater degree. We are closing the borders more so. Still not enought but in time it will occurr. We are making sweeping raids on larger companies that clearly are major violators of the immigration law. These people will be prosecuted to make an example of them. The smaller biz folks are going to get the idea and the illegals will no longer have work. They will go home. We will slowly, methodically catch and deport all illegals. This will take some time but the illegals are going to get the idea and will probubly sneak out, the same way they came in, or simply turn themselves in. They will not and do not have a future here as citizens, unless they go through the legal process as has always been required.
We all have to do our share to eliminate illegal behavior around us. Talk with your friends, co workers, bosses, service people and encourage everyone to help in this effort. The vast majority of US citizens want the illegals to leave.
It is my opinion now that there will be some streamlining of certain laws and loop holes to close the gaps for illegal immigration. The rest will involve punishing the offenders and securing the borders. Take hope and do your part in whatever way you can.

Nothing is going to change right now. Senate and the house can't get anything done with it. They said,"No changes are likely this year."
It is uncertain what would happen to people already here, but it is likely immigration will be made easier. For some people it is already too easy, they need to start enforcing background checks for these people. Most of the terrorists that were involved in 9/11 were on a visa or had an expired visa, one was a legal permanent resident. No one can deny that the U.S might well be the most hated country in the world, we need to watch our borders and screen potential citizens more carefully, we have no idea who is here illegally and people who may mean us harm have been let in legally.

This change means deportation for those who are here by breaking our laws.
Because so many took it upon themselves to break our laws, which endangers our country, the screening process will now take much longer, and sadly it will make it harder for real immigrants to get into the nation.
I want immigrants who knowingly honor America's laws, and earn their way into this country, and we get millions of them every year.
However, we also have millions of people that knowingly, and willingly break our laws. Yes, there are poor people in the country, but they are going to have do like Americans and move out of the boonies, move closer to the cities, work for low wages, earn an honest living, and pay too high of cost of living.
I lived in Mexico with my husband's family, and I was amazed at how much I had heard about the country was untrue. There are new townships developing all over the country. Industry is booming, and their economy is actually in better shape than America. The reason is because the immigrations laws will not allow support to be given to those who are not Mexican. They mainly trade with Asia, and have created great wealth off the criminals coming into America, working illegally, then sending American dollars across the border. And, many Mexicans here in America that I have asked if it was horrible in their country that they had to break the laws of another to escape, why do we not treat the country like Iraq. I mean I have heard the stories about the mass murders that take place in Mexico. But, when I ask my question, suddenly Mexico is not so bad.
