If you believe in God - you don't need a "religion". Be free ! Search for the Truth ! Experience the moment NOW - fully and be thankful for everything !!! Keep the connection alive. Churches and spiritual organizations exist to connect like minded people, but beware of those that take away your freedom. I think you should decide by listening to your intuition... Personally I think you should connect with all the good people on this Earth regardless of their spiritual background. God is One ! You can learn from the flowers, from the trees, from the Living book of Nature - but you have to be open to it and profoundly connected to the Source so you can have deep understanding... Everyone needs guidance at any given moment of time - especially when you are embarking on a road of Spirituality when things are not seen with your eyes, but understood through Faith ! You may need an experienced teacher, Master that has gone through that Path before you and that can surely guide you on your way. How to recognize a true Master? I will give you few hints - What are the fruits of His Teaching? Is he humble?
Being part of a spiritual comunity has its rewards and challenges. In different moments of your life you may need to be alone and then later on you may want to share the Love, the Wisdom you have gained in those precious, quiet moments.
Believe that everything that happens in you life is for your highest good ! When the disciple is ready - the teacher comes ! It does not necessarily be in human form, but for the most people it would be the most acceptable !

Believing in God is not, first of all, the same as being a Christian, for that you need to have put your faith in Jesus as your saviour and repented of your sins. That's all you need for salvation. As for needing church, you don't if you are happy to stay where you are, spiritually. Jesus intends us to go to church in order to share our spiritual gifts with each other for the building up of others, also to give financially to the work of the Lord, for your own spiritual growth, for fellowship etc. It's in the book of Acts. Remember the first thing God said was not good was for man to be alone, that hasn't changed. Maybe you aren't aware of the teachings of Jesus on the church being the body of Christ? We are all individually a part of that body, maybe an eye or a big toe, but unless all the parts of the body are together, there is something missing. Remember also that Christianity is not 'all about you.' It's about Jesus. Your question is full of 'I' am not lonely, 'I' don't need guidance. You have been given a unique spirit that God would like to nurture and use for the nurturing of others. The very fact that you want to isolate yourself from other believers is a sign to me that you do need guidance!

I believe in God because He created me and is my Father. I do not believe that you need a "religion". I go to church because I enjoy being around other believers. I also like to get away from all distractions and just focus on the Lord. I dont believe that you HAVE to go to a church though. The whole "religion" thing has been blown out of proportion. I have a personal relationship with God. I dont know if that sounds weird, but I dont know how to explain it any other way. Once youve experienced it, youll understand. Its like hearing about Mt. Everest and being there. God loves you and wants a relationship with you. Please just give Him a chance. You may not believe in Him, but He believes in you. Also, other Christians and such people make great friends (most of them) and can help you understand things. I hope ive helped. God bless

You don't need religion, you just need a personal relationship with Christ. Going to a good church offers you fellowship with other believers, a chance to learn more about your God, a place to worship corporately, and a body of people who will help you grow in faith. You may not recognize any particular needs now, but a time will come when you will...and you'll be glad for the support of others who share your belief in Christ.

Religion means to believe and worship in something, usually a Deity. You say you believe in God and I assume you believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. Add two things to that, and your religion is complete. The two things are total love for God and total love for mankind. Enhance this with the written word, and lots of study in the written word, and your religion is complete. God doesn't look for His people in a building on a corner, a valley, or on a hill. He looks in the heart. Its ok to attend a church if you want, but not necessary to your salvation. There are over 500 different denominations in Christianity which is kinda scary. And many are not not teaching the truth. I prefer to worship my Lord from the heart, and lots of searching the scriptures, and study for the truth. I attend church occasionally, but do not depend on church attendance for salvation.

Yes... you need a church family and yes you need guidance....Everyone sins and everyone veers away from the teachings of god.....Your church family will be there for you in these times...They will also be there for you when you are not in need of anything....The teachings of the bible that you will learn while in services are what will help to guide you during your travels through life. They will help you choose the right direction in life and determine right from wrong.
These are just a few reasons why you need a church famil;y and teachers for guidance....
You will learn more as you attend church services and read your bible

My friend, it's like me saying "So what if my mother is diabetic, what shows my true love is the amount of chocolate I get her everyday because they happen to be on sale at K-Mart"

You need to and must pick a true religion that can lead you to the higher level before God and should/must follow his teachings for that matter.

Just because you walk to a teacher and say "I think I know everything about that you are going to study, so let's just call it a year and you hand me a certification that says I have passed without taking any tests"

You believe in God, but do you read His Word, the Bible? Do you fully understand what you are reading? You must have a Strongs Concordance to help with translation/transliteration and a good idea of history and cultures of that time. Do you believe in Jesus Christ, God's Son? Do you understand what God expects of you?

No, you don't "need" a religion, but you do need guidance.

If you truly believe in God, then you must also believe in His word, which is the Bible. The Bible tells you to find a home church, so you can learn His word and what He's telling you in a more in-depth manner, and so you can meet other Christians and form relationships with them. You need church so you can grow spiritually.

If for no other reason, I would at least look into it out of obedience to Him, and then see what happens. Pray to Him and ask Him why. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you.
