The accident was at the cornor of Burr St and Ridge road in Gary Indiana.A man stopped and picked up my Mom and the guy she was with and took them to Gary Methodist Hospital.

Ask about their newspaper archives and if they go back to the 1940's.
You might contact the local police for Gary, IN and ask them if their records go back to the 1940's.
Ask the hospital as well.
As a last resort consider contacting the local newspaper and perhaps they would write an article for you....or post a classified AD.

Go to the city where the accient happened. Start with the Local Newspaper archives, then try the hospital, and then the police. Those are good starts. Good luck

There will be no records from that long ago, except maybe a story in the paper . You would probably have to go look in the newspaper archives. Why don't you just ask your mom?
