It's been an awful lot of years since I've been to a meeting, but I don't remember a single one where cross talk was encouraged.

The very fact that there's a name for it that's recognizable to all of us shows that it's considered a big deal.

It depends on the Group Conscience. Not all groups have the same policy. I started with AA and switched to NA and have never encountered a group that condones cross-talk in over 500 meetings that I have attended.

None of the AA meeting I have ever attended allowed cross talk, it is usually highly discouraged.
