Pray to God that she will be OK and that His will will be done. Are you in charge of taking care of your grandma or is it your parents or your grandfather or some other relative? If you are the one in charge of making decisions if she cannot, ask lots of questions and talk to the doctors until you are satisfied and understand what is going on. If another family member is in charge, trust that they know what is best and they understand what is going on. The doctors that care for her are qualified to do so.
If she recovers, that is wonderful! Celebrate your time with her and hold it dear. If not, know that you will see her again if you have taken Jesus into your heart and accepted his gift of salvation. This life is not the end, it is merely a journey.

Do some research. Find out as much as you can about the surgery. That may ease your mind a bit. But I will be honest with you, there's risk involved even with the most common and minor surgeries, especially with the elderly. Spend as much time with your Grandma as you can and be sure to tell her how you feel. I'm facing a similar situation with my Father, but I know in my heart that we'll all be together again and that's helping me. I hope this helps you. I'll say a prayer for you and your family to have the strength to get you through whatever happens. Good luck and God bless you!

If you are not sure what the surgery is about -ask your parents. Most medical words come from latin roots and although they may seem big and scary - sometimes their meanings are really simple.
Like appendectomy - it's a big word that means 'remove the appendix'.
If your parents are hesitant to discuss it - ask them to write down what grandma's surgery is called and look it up on the internet. I am not sure what type of surgery it is - some surgeries are very risky and some surgeries carry minimal risk.
If I knew what surgery it was, we could look up the risk factors. I'm a student nurse who works in a cardiac (heart) unit in the hospital, and I can assure you that Surgeons are very skilled.

RELAX LITTLE GUY--the way things are today--doctors have really good knowledge about alot of things and are very talented at taking care of some really bad things----your grandma is going to get really good care because a bunch of the people that are going to be helping her have got grandma's of their own and they know how important they are---so just have some faith and find some way to believe in the best and before long all of this will be behind you and you'll be a stronger dude too because of it

Yes you should worry and then again no. You should worry because she is not young any more and anything can honestly happen. My grandma had both legs cut off below the knees at two different times and we were worried about that. You shouldn't because it is something she needs done no matter what. Just be happy and pray for the best. Just believe me and I'll pray for the best for your grandma.

Are you a surgeon?
Most likely not. Then probably there are tons of surgeries that you have never heard of yet are quite typical to get done. What you worry is a rare surgory could be standard practivce.
If you are that worried, spend some time to research it on the internet and find out about it. It'll help ease your worry.

Don't worry. Death will eventually conquer everyone and by fearing it you are trying to deny that it will happen. Your Grandma has probably lived a good long life and you should celebrate that. Celebrate you own life. If she passes the sun will rise the next morning. She would want you to be so worried.

Research the internet for information. Sometimes a second opinion is valuable. If you don't know what to do, ask someone to help you find out what's going on. Good luck.
