Mrs. A lot of widows still like to be addressed as Mrs. But you may want toask her how she prefers to be addressed.

She's still Mrs. But I guess she could change that if she wanted to.
And by the way, it's a prefix, not a suffix. Suffixes go after the word, prefixes come before.

I read a Miss Manners article about this once. Mrs. is the correct and appropriate term.
I think it shows respect, I'd want to be addressed this way if my husband passed.

By the rule book she is still considered Mrs.
However she does have the choice to use Ms. if she wishes.

If you think about it, she will also keep her married name too.

Ms. is correct unless she specifically requests to be called Miss.
Miss is usually for someone not yet married.
Mrs. Is for married and married only.

I refer to all female people - regardless of age or marital status - as "Ms.". It's clear, straightforward, and always appropriate.
