I have a cockatiel and this morning he was ok. When I can home this evening he was listless on the bottom of his cage and his tongue is purpe. Does anyone know what I can do. He is bearly eating and wont drink. I love my bird and i dont want him to die.

Thanks Everyone. Wish I could have done something in time but i guess that he is better now and with his brother in birdie heaven.

hun I am so sorry about your bird...the prognosis is not good..I hope I am wrong but I had a cockatiel for 22 years and one minute he was talking a mile a minute and the next he was gone. I cried like a baby. I know this is not what you want to hear and I'm sorry...((hugs)))

I'm so sorry to hear about your bird. I bawled my eyes out when my Cockatiel died. She was like 12 years old, but she had a good life and about 150 unfertilized eggs.
And I bet you had some good times with your bird.

**Hugs** I'm sorry to hear that he died :-( . If his tounge was purple, it may have been a respitory problem that did him in. Birds are really good at hiding illnesses and can die in a few hours. I've lost several birds that way. It sucks big time.

omg! i am so so so sorry to hear that! he died in your hands? that is so so so so sad! take your cockatiel to the vet and so if they can figure out what caused its death. i am so sorry to hear that. my hamster just died last week. i am so sorry. rest in peace little cockatiel.
