Crate training is the only way to go..
crate overnight - out in AM for pee (you need to go out too with soft treat for INSTANT Reward) in to eat and out again to run and poop - running stimulates the bowels - again you go out too and reward instantly - inside - keep an eye on pup, as soon and he circles and sniffs the ground this is your cue to go out again.. again you have to go out to..
continue throughout the day - crate the pup when you cannot watch him or keep him on leash in house with you..
supper at 6:00pm - remove uneaten food at 7 pm and remove water 2 hours before bed time.. make sure pup gets out again before bed - then crate through the night... the idea is that the crate is the den. a safe place (NEVER USED FOR PUNISHMENT) they dont want to pee or poop in their bed... there will be whining when pup first goes in the crate you MUST ignore this or it will train the pup to whine to get attention.. leave in crate the whole night (at 6 month he should be able to hold it that long) - in the morning dont talk to him until he is outside and has peed..
feeding better food will make them poop less

Most dogs give off signs. They will sniff a spot and circle. You can watch for tell-tale behavior like that, and immediatly scoop up your dog and take her outside to "do the deed". Each time you go outside, take her to the same spot and use a code word like, "Go potty!" when you want her to us the bathroom. Gently pet her and praise her in a normal tone when she goes outide.
I hope this helps you. I was so unsure when I got my dog...I read all the books and watched all the DVDs and bought all the best products. I can't imagine when I have kids!
When she does use the bathroom where you don't want her to, don't rub her nose in it or anything else like that. Rubbing her nose in poop can cause infections, especially if she has tapeworms or something like that. Just wipe up the spot and make sure (this is very important!) that you use a pet spot cleaner. You can buy the best stuff on the market at PetSmart or SuperPetz. A less effective brand (but it still works) is available at Wal-Mart. If you only wiped up the spot, your dog will go back to that spot and smell her "target", and decide that's where she's supposed to go next time. The cleaner removes all the doggy scent from your floors and furniture, so the puppy can't smell it, and therefore, it isn't a choice potty spot.
If you must leave your dog alone during the day, you may want to crate train or paper train your dog, at least for a little while. They're both extremely effective until your dog is housetrained.
Also, you could put your dog on a schedule to housetrain her. When I first got my Rotti-Shepard pup, I would take him out every 20 minutes. Most of the time, he wouldn't do anything, but it wasn't the point. It got him used to the idea that outside was where that happened.
You also may need to get up during the night and take her out. My dog is 6 months old and now goes outside every two hours during the day and every four hours at night. He is housetrained, though, so I can tell you that this works.
A puppy will need to relieve herself after playing, eating, sleeping or napping, or any other activity that takes her mind away from the task at hand. I would take my puppy out right after eating, drinking water, playing, sleeping, or just lying around. As soon as he would move, we would go outside.
Limiting your dog's water intake is also a possibility. It may just be that she is drinking too much water and her body can't use it all. Dogs should be provided fresh water with every meal, after playtime and sleeping, except at night. That wouldn't be a good idea. Your dog will not die of thirst or anything like that, if done correctly.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aL0ms
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

you can ask a veterinarian... I asked the same question a few days ago (my puppy is 1 month old) and crate training seems like a good idea. But taking the puppy outside every time he wakes up, after he drinks water or every 3 to 4 hours should be good too...

Start by putting news paper down on the floor.Try to make sure the puppy goes on it.Every few days move the paper closer to the door leading outside.Don't get into the habit of hitting the dog for wetting or messing on the bare floor,it will confuse them just as it would a child. If you can take the dog out every morning, afternoon, night, you will have better success. You have to be patient and consist ant.

What kind of puppy may I ask? Well you could try putting the puppy on a routine then the puppy will get use to going out everyday at the sametime. when you go to the door take the puppys paw and scratch the door that way the dog will learn to do this everytime it has to go out. You could use a bell, if you don't want the door scratched up. Good Luck!!!

WHAT EVER YOU DO DON"T SPANK THE DOG WHEN HE HAS AN ACCIDENT!!!!
If you do it teaches them that every time they use the bathroom they get punished so they hide to do there business.
Puppy pads(they sell them at wal-mart) are a get item if the pup has one or two spots they go.
Otherwise a close eye is the only answer
You will start ot notice the times the pup uses the bathroom and you can start walking the pup or letting it out 10 mins before.
BEST ADVICE TAKE YOUR TIME AND DON'T GET DISCOURAGED!

yes constantly take your puppy outside to let him learn the difference between inside and outside. If you as a puppy parent don't put forth the effort to teach your puppy where to do his business, he will never learn on his own. You have to be willing to get off the couch and take him outside to do his thing. He may eventually start to tell you by giving you signals like; whinning or going towards the door (once he figures out that the door leads to his bathroom) or even going around in circles. Until then it is up to you to get up and take him out every 30-45 minutes just to see if he starts to get the urge to go... it takes time and alot of patience to teach a child.. a dog is just that a 2 yr old who will never tell you what he needs or wants. You have to learn how to read your dog. Don't ever punish you dog for having an accident in the house, cause its your fault.. not his.. its your job to take him out, cause he can't open the door. ..

Same as any other dog....
Take dog out first thing in morning. Praise dog after potty IMMEDIATELY that means that you go out WITH the dog.
Take out after playing or eating or napping. PRAISE results
Take out before bed. PRAISE results
The less accidents in the house, the faster the training is. If you are lazy and do not be consistent and just let the dog out in the yard and think that it will potty on its on, you are wrong.

Well a friend of mine helped me out with this one which worked for my puppy:
* Take your puppy outside after every meal and award your puppy with affection when it does it's buisness so that they will know they have done a good thing about pooing outside.
* if your puppy does happen to poo in the house get a pooper scooper and put the poo outside where your pup usually goes so that it can perceive that is where he should poo.
Hope I could be of some help and good luck to ya!

Take him outside every 4 hours and wait till he pees or poops. Give him lots of praise and a treat, then take him back inside. When he poos or pees inside, swat him lightly on the butt and tell him "NO, Go outside!" then take him out. At 6 mos, he should be able to hold it for a few hours. Works like a charm.
