Not all Seventh-day Adventists are vegetarians. Many are because they believe that it is a healthier and better way to live (not because of an exact Biblical call to do so). The SDA's official web site says,

"It also means that because our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, we are to care for them intelligently. Along with adequate exercise and rest, we are to adopt the most healthful diet possible and abstain from the unclean foods identified in the Scriptures."

All Adventists are required to follow the rules of clean and unclean meats found in the Bible however.

Also brother whynotaskdon is incorrect in his assertion that "They believe they must keep all the Lavitical Laws possible today. They believe that if you are NOT a 7th Day member YOU ARE DOOMED." No SDA's make any sacrifices to atone for sins and SDA's officially believe that people of all religions can be saved, but only God can know is and who is not saved. I would also be interested to know what he thinks the Sabbath is. I hope he can count to seven!

I am an Adventist. Not all Adventist are vegetarian, however we do not eat unlean foods. The reason we believe in vegetarianism is because it was God's orginal plan in the garden of Eden.

Before sin entered the world there was no death and God gave Adam and Eve fruits grains and nuts. After Adam and Eve sinned God gave them vegetables also.

In addition in Heaven there will be no more death so everyone will be vegetarian.

As for the comment made about Ellen White. She did not rewrite the Bible. If you look at our 28 fundamental beliefs we quote the Bible and never once mention her. Seventh-Day adventist use the same Bible that other denominations use, KJV NIV etc. in addition Ellen G White called herself the lesser light and called the Bible the greater light. Her job was to point people to the greater light of the Bible.

My Ex wife was an Adventist
Most are not vegetarians they just don't eat the unclean meat from Deuteronomy
Like the Jewish diet

The big deal with them is their prophet that re wrote the bible

They prefer her writings to the bible
and use the bible only to back the prophet

She finally abandoned the kids and me because we would not join them

here is all you ever need to know about them

Fundamental belief # 18 off Adventist.org

18. The Gift of Prophecy:
One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen. G. White . As the Lord's messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. (Joel 2:28, 29; Acts 2:14-21; Heb. 1:1-3; Rev. 12:17; 19:10.)

They believe they must keep all the Lavitical Laws possible today.
They believe that if you are NOT a 7th Day member YOU ARE DOOMED. ((CULT CULT)
