Depending on any local or house rules, the cue ball and 8ball are spotted and the other player still has to make the shot, or the player who 'scratched' loses.

no way, dude, it is what it is. sorry, but a scratch is , just that, a scratch. but, if u make the "16 ball", after the 8 ball, well, thats that. u lose. sorry, but that's an instant loss. no matter howgood or bad u were playin. party on and better luck next time.
it woulddaa been even worse, if'n u had made the 8 balllll on the break and then still scratched. oooooo bummer, still a loser all the same, to bad. to better luck next time. victoriap69.

Everyone says its a lost or scratch but not necessarily, if you made the rules that its a win prior then its win. (Remember this is your rules n not the official 8 ball rules)

no you do not win in a regular game, however, in yahoo pool if you scratch while shooting the eight ball and missing the shot, your opponet just gets ball in hand

Nope, you don't win, sinking the cue ball is a scratch, and immediate forfet.

it depends on the rules

under world rules you would lose but in some games the game ends with the potting of the black so if the white goes in afterwards it doesn't matter as the game had actually ended
