I think that a lot of early marriages are caused by marriage-pressure these days, not all of them maybe but some of them.

There is an unbelievable amount of pressure on girls to "catch a man" and the sooner the better. Females who are just dating or not dating are often called "old maids," "spinsters," "lesbians," etc. I also believe the church is creating this problem because people want to experience sexual contact and stay true to their religions. The only way to do that is to get married. People are being forced into situations before they really have time to really decide if it's what they want. I believe this is also what leads to extramarital affairs and family abandonment by one of the spouses.

So? Life is short. Some girls marry at 16 or 17, and a few of those have successful marriages.

Stay just the way you are. In all probability they'll wind up divorcing.
To answer your question... It seems like young women nowadays have such a need to be with someone. Like they're no one alone. A marriage will have the most chance for success if both partners can stand on their own.

I think i fall into ur category too! I've sign the paper before my 23rd birthday. Why? Maybe my BF is over 30yrs old. Maybe we are together for more than 5yrs, it's time to move on... Maybe i think there are more freedom with my hubby than with my family. Maybe i love my hubby?! But overall, i'm glad with my decision...

because they've fallen heads over heels with whoever they're dating so much that THINK they've found "the one" to be with. they're letting their emotions get the better of them, they need to put the brakes on getting married and see if there is anybody else who is better than the person they are dating and it is shocking. they might be needy too.

it's normal to get married that "early" on in life.
most people, including dead ones, got married under the age of twenty-five, then again, most of the time their life expectancy was about thirty-five, so go figure:D
