I agree with you..but there is a lot of stereotyping from all sides. I see many..questions..that lump "all Christains, All Americans, All Blacks, All women, etc." I am a Christian..I don't force my beliefs on anyone. I do share my beliefs when a question is asked, but never in a mean way. When someone is being mean about "All Christians", I simply don't respond.
I guess its like saying all muslims are terrorists...(they aren't) by the same token...all Christians aren't ignorant, mean people. I am Baptist..I love my God and my beliefs..this does not give me the right to be mean or think I am superior, just as no other religion/belief system has the right to think that of me. When my thinking turns this way, I am no longer following God's will.

I haven't been hurt by other Christians. Most Christians I've met are very nice people--my Christian coworker is great!--but that doesn't mean I agree with their religious beliefs. I think it's silly to believe in an entity you've never seen or met, but which you imagine to perform marvelous works on your behalf because he loves you...in fact, it sounds a lot like Santa Claus.
Oh, and I have to wonder why so many Christians apologize for the wrongs committed by other Christians. You cannot apologize for someone else--it isn't your fault if some people, who should know better, behave like idiots. Certainly, there is no way that you can apologize for the evils committed by Christianity in the days of the inquistions and witch hunts...or for Christians who burn abortion clinics...or for Christians who beat up and kill gay men...or for a certain well-known Catholic man who sent millions of people to gas chambers and concentration camps...and all this happened while your God stood by and did nothing to stop it. Perhaps God is the one who should be apologizing?

We are required to live by the Bible. If you feel that your actions were maybe wrong then you should definately pray about it and read the Bible.
This is a hard one, because I stayed away from Christianity for a long time because of those "people".
But now I realize why they did this. Christianity is unfortunately black and white, either you believe in Christ or you don't. You either go to heaven or hell. You either believe the Bible completely or you don't.
It is hard, some people claiming to be Christians aren't living their life for Christ at all. I think they are as unsure about their own religion and the things the are being taught as much as the unbeliever.
It is a touchy subjet, and I feel that as Christians we should most definately pray before answering any questions on Yahoo answers, and whenever we approach an unbeliever. Just because we need Gods help in order to reach those who need it.
Plus I think we need to remember that the greatest impact and testimony to unbelievers is our life! We really need to make sure we carry ourselves like the Holy Spirit filled, followers of Christ, that we are!
God Loves YOU

I read your previous question to understand the new one.
I also do not understand why people act like this. It doesn't matter what a person chooses to believe, it is a proven fact that no matter what you say there are still going to be people who constantly tell you that you have no truth in your beliefs, ect, ect ect. I do not agree with people who say they are Christian or even religious for that matter who insist on throwing out a scripture when they do not know its meaning. If you say look at this verse and you give it to them but after you give them the verse they are wondering what it means, and all you can say is read the verse, then that is wrong. If they aren't a believer or if they are perhaps a new believer, it may be necessary to explain it to them, and if you do not fully understand youself, maybe you can guide them towards someone who does understand. It can be complicated because I have a few friends who disagree with my beliefs but all you can do as a christian person is try and guide them if they are interested. I do not agree with people who some say "shove the book in their face" or something on that order. Being a Christian is all about love and respect for others as well as knowing that you are living your life as God would choose for you to in following him. I hope that my answer is not confusing.

Just because people claim to be Christians doesn't mean they are. They may think they are, but being a true christian includes having a christian spirit. That is the hard part. Some people also use Christianity as something to hide behind. In the other turn of events, if we were all perfect and thought just alike, then God wouldn't have a job to do.

The word Christian is probably the most missed used word in that way of life. And I think this is why when people here this word they get either offensive or defensive. The word Christian was used only three times in the King James Bible. And it was not used by the followers of Christ themselves. It was a word that had been originated by the non believers. They saw the people living the way Christ lived,in love, peace, careing, and helping others. So actually the non believers mocked them by calling them Christians at Antioc, they acked like little Christs. The actual faith by the believers than was called THE WAY. The non believers saw this in the poeples way of life. So who that is a non believer saw this way of life in you and called you a Christain
Now to the non believers of this faith. People who think they are better than you because of this faith and put you down because you are not of this faith ,do you see the Love of Christ in them?If you don't then to you are they a Christian?Christianity is a way of life. And if that life of Christ is not seen in you by others. Than are you truely a Christain? So nonbelievers of that faith don't give Christ a bad rap. Because it's not him at all doing and saying these things. If you hear or see a so called Christian doing anything out of love ( the Bible says you will know them by there Love) remind them about it and ask them if that's the way a Christian is suppose to act? And Christians, you need to hear that. You are suppose to be the light of the world. And learn and grow from it. The nonbelievers are watching you. And how can you witness to some one when they don't see this in you? And believers you can not save someone. Salvation is not for you to give. You share your faith and testimonies .I've seen and heard so many people pushed out and Chritianity hated because of condemnation. Jesus prayed Father I pray that all you have given me will not be lost. So don't you think if Jesus himself prayed this that if any out there are going to accept him they will? Live in peace with each other, share the world that God has created for ALL of us.

You do not have to apologize for others, but this was a very kind gesture.
I do not know why people sterotype, maybe they don't know any better?
Sometimes when you find something wonderful, you just want to share it and may become a little over whelming?
I believe we are called to live in peace, too.
Blessings and Peace I leave with you all!

No we shouldn't down peoples' throats about right or wrong. But we must be very direct with answers to questions about Christianity. Some people just need to exercise a little tact in their answers.
Remember, even the Lord Jesus Christ flew off the handle when he went into the synagoge and wrecked havoc against the religious right of his time.

We ARE called to set the record straight about what is right and wrong; we have a commission to reconcile the world to God.
The world went astray. God is giving them a chance to start over on a fresh slate (His gift of salvation through Christ).
And I agree, Christians should not be attacking nonbelievers, but you're gonna see Christians pointing out the issues with others' practices. Love the sinner, hate the sin.

A few weeks ago, I posted that we should educate not berate and got a lot a great responses from folks who were also tired of the "you are going to hell" crowd of Christians that are misguided.
The only time I will give an answer that is other than educating is when I am dealing with one of the rude and disrespectful fools that says something horrid about Jesus or God.
I am always reminded of the verse "don't cast your pearls before swine"...there are a few "oinkers" that post to the religion section just to tick off the Christians.
