you must have Flash Latest Ver., Adobe PhotoShop or Corel PhotoPaint if are not in DTP field, Internet Explorer Latest. Adobe Acrobat Reader Lastest, Office 2007 Beta,
Then Corel Draw X3, Windows Media Player LATEST, Quick Time Player, Real One Player, The to pretect from viruses, install Norton Anti Virus, and Update regularly. It will make your speed slow but its the best. I use internet daily 24 hrs. Till now no Virus threate and Computer is working smooth.
Then Microsoft Anti Spyware download Beta version for free.
Nero Start Smart

Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator (Adobe media programs)..but they are pretty expensive, which is why they probably don't come on computers.
Maybe like a dictionary/thesaurus program if there's such thing. A weather icon that tells the weather and forecasts. Virus program preinstalled so you don't have to g out and buy/download one.
How can there be a correct answer to this question - if you knew the answer then why would you be asking the question?

Spybot Search & Destroy to keep your system clean of spyware. Avast anti-virus to keep your system healthy, and a good pop-up killer. Aside from these, whatever you think is cool will do. Depends on what you are into. Without knowing that I can only suggest that you visit Snapfiles.com and go through the freeware section and see what tickles your fancy for free - graphics programs, multimedia programs, whatever. It's my first stop for software shopping.

LIGHTNING DOWNLOAD,I think this is the best download manager u can get on this earth.downloading speed is superb.
Lightning Download is a Download Manager to help you download files from the Internet.
Accelerate your downloads--split a file and download up to 10 parts at the same time to help get your files faster.
Schedule your downloads--let Lightning Download do the work, have it dial your modem, download your files, and hang-up when done.
Manage your downloads--easily find files waiting to finish and those you've downloaded, and easily set the download order to get files you want first.
And everything else you'd expect from a Download Manager--take over downloads from your web browser, download resuming, mirror searching, and lots more.
Download it from here

zone alarm is a good program to have, i have used it and have had no problems with it. your computer will look and perform they way you want it. do you want your comp lights,if any, to move with the beat of the music your playing? or is your comp more for gaming? what is it to you? its your computer bud. i think having a great security program is a must on any computer. i know you most likely have that. ask yourself what you really want to do with it. let me know, k.
