I had a heniated/degenerated L5-S1 that had to be removed asap that caused really bad sciatica and im going through physical therapy right now and even till i get out. Its going to take about 1 yr and a half to get back to 90% of where i was before the injury. Its causing a lot of depression and other problems for me but i stay motivated.

My son was also hurt in Iraq (by a pig scum coward who had a car full of bombs) He has brain injuries and going through another operation on his arm this Friday and the Marines are making him get out but we had to get a lawyer cause they only wanted to give him 10% disability. So my best advice is to get a lawyer now cause you are going to need one.
Also please don't get me wrong I still believe in our Military and back them 100% but you know how the red tape goes.

I had a similar thing happen to me when I was in Iraq which caused my L4 an L5 vertabrae to become herniated. When I came home I tried to go to the Army docs and they kept telling me there was nothing wrong. Noone took me serious until I missed PT because I could not feel or move my left leg, scared the hell out of me to say the least. My best advice is to MAKE sure you COPY all of your medical records. The military does not grant you you're disability, the VA does. What the military does is give you a lump sum, in order to get a disability check you have to give that lump sum to the VA. As far as your rating goes, it's totally up to them. I'm still fighting with them over my percentage. I have permanent hearing loss in both ears, one eye that no longer can see clearly(from the scar tissue from shrapnel) and 2 herniated discs and they are only willing to give me 10%. I'm still fighting them on it but needless to say it's a long haul. If you can afford a lawyer get one. If not, BE SURE to hold onto every single document that has any information on your condition. Also, if you can get the After action Report from the incident that you got injured in, sometimes they'll even try to deny that you were ever even hurt in the military, if you have that then they can't deny it or put you off. Finally, if all else fails, get your congressman involved, that always seems to light some fires under peoples asses.

Keep your head up Marine. Everything will work out in due time.

First and foremost, God bless you:) Thank you for everything you did for your country over there. Can't begin to imagine what you've gone through. You should be totally taken care of by the military for your injuries. I'm sorry I don't have more precise information on that. Your doctor should give you some ideas for the depression and other problems you are dealing with. I'm a nurse, and there are some good antidepressants to help you get through for now. It'll get better, you're home. I wish you the best.

I would get a lawyer. In the meantime you can start doing the paper work online for your disability. The first time you send in a claim for disability, it is usually denied no matter what or how severe your injuries are. The VA web site also has some information (not much) on percentages and disabilities payments.

Hey dude, if you had/have what you describe in this question, you better re-read your medical records, or have your therapist talk to you.

Man why you trying to mess with peoples heads.
