No, but religion has played into manipulating people through rewards and punishments, and I don't beleive that's what God intended.
However, I also realize that I have a good life now, perhaps if I was starving, or enslaved I would find the idea of a better life beyond this one very comforting.

No.
First, Christianity does not promise "a good life" in earthly terms. It does, however, promise heaven after death.
Greed is "1: excessive desire to acquire or possess more (especially more material wealth) than one needs or deserves 2: reprehensible acquisitiveness; insatiable desire for wealth (personified as one of the deadly sins)" (see dictionary.com)
The desire for heaven is not an excessive desire to acquire more than one needs or deserves. It is a perfectly reasonable and rationale desire to go to heaven, live with one's Creator, and to spend eternity worshiping God rather than in hell. Nor is a desire for heaven reprehensible or a desire for wealth in earthly terms.
Religion is a relationship with God that is a wonderful thing.

Sees religion as more of fear based form of control. And it does work as a means of control, has for centuries.

We should keep our fingers crossed on such topics as nobody knows for sure what happens after death.

I agree. It could quite possibly be. They (Christians) jump on the bandwagon because they think something good will happen to them. How funny that they waste all their time thinking this.
