And redirect that money to help rehabilitate prisoners who are legal citizens of this country? Maybe we could get rid of some of the "magnets" that draw illegals into the U.S. and stem some of the tide of violence and crime we have with our own FELLOW citizens.? Why not use the money to help the less fortunate children of LEGAL citizens who live below the poverty line?

Good point 9in..but what about the children of prisoners who have a high risk of leading the same life style as their parents? Crime is getting pretty bad in this country. Prisons were originally ment to rehabilitate them and allow them to reenter society as a contributing citizen. Sorry if my spelling is off.. I agree with you though, our vets should be pampered as far as I'm concerned.

It may sound cruel but all benefits must be stopped to the illegals. Period. That goes for the children they have too. If we can get the guts to deny them it is possible they will leave. I think I read where Texas is sending a bill to Mexico for services to the illegals. That is a great idea. Hold Mexican assets and take the cost of services to their citizens. Mexico would then do something about the boarder.

I'm with mimilundgren here. As well, as soon as illegals arrive at the ER and they are discovered to be illegal, deport them. As soon as a child being registered at school is discovered to be illegal, deport the whole family. When a police officer stops a car for any minor infraction, have them check for ID, license, insurance, residency proof, and if they are illegal, deport them immediately. When an employer is discovered to be hiring illegals, prosecute the employer, to the fullest extent of the law, and deport the illegals immediately. Give the power to all schools, ERs, social services agencies, police officers, landlords, etc. to ask for proof of residency and if that proof is not given, the illegals should be deported immediately. It may sound inhumane, at first, but believe me, it wouldn't take long for the message to get across and the illegals would start leaving on their own accord rather than be deported. If they are told that if they have not committed any further crimes besides crossing the border illegally and that if they remove themselves voluntarily from the USA NOW, that they will have a much greater chance of returning legally, if they leave and apply through legal channels, then I believe a very large number of them will leave of their own accord.

I don't know if the money not spent on illegals should so much go to prisoners as other more deserving individuals such as our own poor families, the disabled, and the elderly. Sure, put some of it towards rehabilitating prisoners - at least the legal American citizen prisoners - at least even THEY are here LEGALLY!

All funding to programs that benefit illegals should not only be cut, they should be cut out completely. And that alone would could help us rehabilitate, stem violence, provide more help to struggling families, create more jobs for Americans and maybe even reduce less burden taxpayers, who then might have a little funds left over to help the less fortunate people around the world that are not breaking the law. Also welcome with open arms all those that came to America and become Real Americans!

I totally agree. I think that any illegals should be made to apply for citizenship like everyone else. I do not think that they should be rewarded in any way for breaking the law. If they snuck in and we catch them, they should be sent back home and made to apply the regular way like so many other LEGAL immigrants have done in the past.

Employers who hire illegals should be fined and those employees deported. If people start to learn that they will not get over if they come here illegally that instead they will be sent right back and then jailed if caught in the US again. they knew the risks when they sought to break the law. they are criminals plain and simple no matter how good a person they might be.

To give tax money to illegals SHOULD be illegal.

That there are many that are illegal that are on such programs is something that I see every day because of where I work. That there are people that think that such isn't true shows that many do not know the reality of the situation.

I am in favor of doing anything that betters the life of the citizens of this country - born here or that immigrate here legally. To the illegal, the very term should be reason enough why such should be something that they should never receive.

We need to stop giving billions to the arabs in iraq and the contractors over in iraq, and stop paying in to illegals and divert the money to our homeless americans and mothers with kids who actually need it. Prisoners are in prison for a reason, they cannot be rehabilitated, they will do the same crime if let out 9 out of 10 times. Also give it to our veterans who are now disabled due to iraq war that should not have happed.

You do do not ignore that deportations of unlawful immigrants is UP OVER 600% provided that Democrats took over in 2009, properly? What those 12 million illegals will do is proceed to artwork for an same, or maybe possibly decrease, pay and grants you the very same low priced labor to the corporate sector they did at the same time as the Republicans had means, in uncomplicated phrases 600% extra!

I agree with you. Someone posted that Americans should put ourselves in the shoes of illegal immigrants and see that they come here out of necessity. Why can't the country of the illegal immigrants focus more on improving their economy and provide a living wage for its people. America shouldn't have to support the world because of this myth that we are all rich. We need to put our tax money towards the improvement of Americans lives, not illegals.

In actuality most "illegals" entering our country aren't drawn by "magnets", they come out of necessity. There isn't a way to support their family or themselves where they come from, so they leave home and come to live a life of working slave labor in a country that does not accept them. Put yourself in the same situation, it's not so simple.
