Kids have wrecks so be prepared for it, no matter how well they drive they will have a wreck or be in a wreck. I would never lease a car and I would never buy a new car for a 16 year old kid. I bought my four boys $3000 cars and made them pay for full coverage insurance. Two have totaled their cars and are on their third car at the ripe age of 18. Girls are a little different but not much so be aware.

You can't enter into a lease so it really doesn't matter! You must be 18 to enter into a legally binding contract.

Leasese are usually a bad deal for most people. They're OK if you run a business and want an easy tax deduction and know that you will not exceed the mileage on the contract.

Many dealers have switched people onto a lease without their knowledge. They just stick it in front of the customer who stupidly signs without reading a word on the contract. I had a dealer try that once. I tore up the contract and walked out.

There are NO advantages to leasing a car. period.
disadvantages: cost, cost, and cost. You're getting totally jacked when you lease a car. It's like renting a car. There's no equity in it at all. You give 'em your money and then you return the car when the lease is over. Don't do it!

A minor child can't enter into a lease, so it's a moot question.

But...a lease is a money pit, you'd be better off buying a used car outright.

Cost.. Let em' have a "beginners" car to get used to the in and outs...bumper scrapes...How many people do you know that has never hadda ding? Aaaand the person will absolutely respect the vehicle more, if their own sweat and blood helped purchase it...not just a gift
