Itunes employs the aac file format, and embeds DRM (Digital rights management) into those files. Look at the song you're having a problem with and use the "Get Info" menu on it. You will see something like "Proteced AAC File" and looking at the "where" will show you the actual location of the file on your computer. You will notice that this file is an .m4p file. Googling will provide you more information on what m4p files are, as well as ways to convert them to other formats.

DRM is in essence a form of copy protection. What you need to do is either strip the DRM from the files or convert them to another format that your slideshow creator software can read. Often that is .mp3 format.

There is a built in way you can do this, assuming you have a CD burner, and that's to use Itunes to burn an mp3 of the files you want to use. Once they're burned to disc, the files have the DRM stripped, and you can reimport them back, or use the cd as the input for your multimedia slideshow authoring software.

Best of luck with your project ;)

*sigh* unprotect the songs first.

m4p=protected song
m4a=unprotected song

your downloads are m4ps. Analog record them into another format with a program like Wavepad (shareware- nch.com), burn them to CD with itunes then rip them to a universal format like mp3, or buy the most basic version of tunebite and use it on them.

Then it will work correctly. Use a common format like .mp3. I can almost guarantee that format will work.
