what happens when you use a cell phone during takeoff?

i was sitting next to this guy who didnt speak english so he didnt hear that he had to put away his cell phone and when the spanish announcments came on, a babystarted to cry.

so the guy used the cell phone throughout take off, actually, throughout the flight, all 9 hours..... =(

so what happens?

I dont think it's such a big deal as people make out. i have a pilot friend who has forgotton to turn off his mobile and who smokes througout the flight.bet you really needed to know that!

So turn them off

i was recently on a flight when a guy in the seats across the way was using his mobile just before takeoff i can only say at that point the airhostess noticed and he get a verbal slap on the wrist the guy grumbled the hostess got angry the guy got a bit irrate and the hostess got stern and angry and the guy looked like a chastiesed school kid, i don't know if anything else would happen but maybe to some people it's like a sign that says DON'T WALK ON THE GRASS there is always some idiot that wants to walk on it !

how in the hell can you be on a cell phone for 9 hours when the battery isnt designed to last that long?

it messes with the planes systems a little bit. i'm sure one cell phone wouldn't do anything to serious but if everyone or a lot of people were then some major problems could happen.
