Yes, long hair drags the face down and accentuates the sags and droops that occur with age. Also, dark hair should be lightened because it is too harsh for older women.

Women were never intended to have short hair. In my 63 years of life I have noticed that the longer and more flowing a woman's hair is, the more beautiful she is. A woman's hair is her crowning glory. I have also noticed that the shorter a woman's hair is the more she looks like a teenage boy. Real men love to see lovely long flowing hair on there women. At the beach or out in the sun it is so easy to put it up, there are so meany ways to do it. There is just something about long shiny flowing beautiful hair that really turns a man on, even an older man. God knew it. God is never wrong.

I don't think that it is a rule for all aging women, but it does seem that shorter hair looks better on older people. Long hair usually symbolizes a more youthful apearance when you are a kid or in your teens/twenties, but it can look kind of silly when an old lady has all of this long hair.
It also depends on the culture you are basing it on, and what type of hair it is...

I like the short look on women as young as 20 on up. Short hair looks better and keeps an older person looking younger in my opinion. But there can be many mistakes to short hair. I know many people whose hair does not look good on the because their hair is too short. Short hair cannot be cut above the ear unless it is layered or for an effect that is what i say.

shorter hair on older women detracts for fine lines and wrinkles. Long hair will "pull the face down" and in some cases make the woman look older. all in all it's your call but if you op to keep it long learn a few up do's (french twist and bun are simple) they are stylish and elegant but allow you more options.

It is clear that as a person gets older their hair slowly grows back into their skull..

that is why old ladies have really short curly white hair.

it's not that they WANT it like that...it's just that they can't help it...

so i feel that we should all pity the woman with short hair because they, of course, had no say in how the world works.

A lot of people tend to think so. Of course, I'm 47 and I have my hair about 1/2 way down my back. I like to be able to put it up to keep from being so hot... so it doesn't stick to my neck in this hot TX weather!
My grandma died with her hair past her waist.. she used to wear a braid around her head like a crown. I think it's up to the individual and, however it's worn, your hair should "frame" your face...
BTW: My hair is snowy-white and brown.. with these streaks, most people think I'm blonde or that my streaks were professionally done.. it's all natural, baby!

It depends on whether they can take care of it. When the hair is longer, you have to constantly maintain it so it looks nice. If you don't ,it looks messy and dirty. Also when you get older, it seems that it's easier to take care of short hair and lots of people look good in it. It depends on whether you look good in it or not. Not everyone looks good in long hair. So that also is a factor.

older women look nice with shorter hair, but I have seen some with long natural bluish grey hair that looked beautiful. it depends on how well they maintain their hair, as long as it's shiny, and the color complements them i don't see a difference between young and old..except with bangs..some older women don't look right with bangs..don't know why though, they just don't

i've seen women in their 60's with beautiful long hair, natural silver or dyed. if the dye is very obvious, it looks bad, or if the style is trying to be too young and sexy, it looks bad. i think it is only in the 70's when hair gets so brittle that it gets that little old lady cotton look, so it's easier to just cut it short.
