Sleepiness is a symptom of almost every medical and psychological condition you could have so it could be almost anything.
In terms of lifestyle, make sure your sleep is good and uninterrupted. Eat right, stay healthy, don't stress, avoid too much alcohol or drugs (including legal ones like caffeine or cigs). Exercise and mental stimulation are important -- they both give you extra energy. It could be something you're eating, a reaction to chemicals or allergies in your diet, your air, clothing.
For psychology, sleepiness and lethargy are attributes of depression. Depression is a symptom as much as it is a particular problem. It could come from almost anything. Not everyone who is depressed actually feels sad. Some just feel tired.
For physical conditions check your doctor. So many things could cause it.
You may also just be someone who needs extra sleep. Some people need more than 8 hours.

I was having that problem too. Sleeping 8 hours a night and then taking a 2 hour nap everyday. Try taking a multi vitamin in the moring. I actually had low iron and thats why I was becoming so tired. I found that out because I went to donate blood and my iron was low. So maybe if you get that little extra nutrient you are missing you will be good. (You can even take like a flintstone vitamin) thats what my doctor has me on and Im 18 lol.

First, make an appointment with your doctor...tell him about your sleep problems and your feelings of not wanting to do anything...it definately sounds like you have some symptoms of depression but you could also have sleep apnea. This means that no matter how much sleeping you do you never feel well rested...there are also several other things to look at like your diet and exercise...what things were you interested in before you started feeling like this?...My best guess is the doctor...hope this helps.

Go through a sleep study to see if you have sleep apnea. People who have sleep apnea stop breathing for 10 to 30 seconds at a time while they are sleeping. these short stops in breathing can happen up to 400 times every night. This causes the person to feel more tired in the morning than the night before bed. I have the condition so I know.

If you get out of the house and it still doesn't work you could have several things wrong with you. One, you could be mildly depressed and not realize it. Two, you could have a vitamin B12 deficiency. It causes you to feel like that. I know because I have it so severely I take 10,000 mcg injections WEEKLY. It boosts my energy level and I feel so much better. You may want to get it checked. A simple blood test will tell.

lethargy is sometimes a sign of depression try doing these things every day for a month and see if it makes you feel better...
go for a walk outdoors. it doesnt have to be brisk or anything and not even far... just a half a kilometre will do... just do it every day..
start each day with a large glass of water and drink water before each meal.
eat fresh fruit and vegetables everday whether you want to or not.... try making yourself a platter of fresh fruit and vegies in the morning and then keep it covered in the fridge easy to access when you feel like a snack..
talk to another human being in person every day

Check your liver at the doctor.
It may be that you need some medication.
Don`t be alarmed it may be that you don`t drink enough water.
Try to drink 2 liters of water a day for a week and then see how it goes.

If you do something which is interesting to you you will never feel tired. But if your work is boring the situation you are facing could be the same for anyone. First of all check is the work that you do gives you interest?

Try waking up earlier and eat more in the morning. If that doens't work, then look at disgusting pictures of roadkill on the Internet to keep you wide awake for the rest of the day-not that I have tried this.

If you are always tired, have your thyroid checked. It sounds like you might have an under active thyroid. Ask your doctor to check this with a simple blood test. If left unchecked, you will not know if you need to take synthroid to bring your thyroid levels back to normal.
(Getting more sleep will not cure this problem!!!)
