I don't know anyone who knows a periodontist, only general dentists. I went to a dentist per a recommendation, and she recommended one that is out of my network. I would like to find a periodontist in my network (cigna ppo) since I've read that it can get costly.

What is there a good way to find a dentist other than looking at my list of providers and picking randomly?

Thanks

My Prosthodontist says to use this link:

http://www.prosthodontics.org/cf-dbm/members/c-directory.cfm

These are Prosthdontists recommended by the Prosthodontic Association. You have to pass the board to be part of this association.

I would call a dentist you trust, and ask who he reccomends.

Also ask around amongst friends, as I'm sure many of them will have strong opinions regarding a good periodontist for you.

Ultimately, the choice is yours, and you might like a doctor that someone else doesn't though.

ask doctors and dentists that you know well for colleagues that they recommend. if someone gets recommended a few times, he/she's definitely worth checking out! ;)
dont be shy to tell them about yr concerns, ie. you don't want to shell out a bomb for it. and do mention what you're looking for in the periodontist! gd patient care, experience, expertise, level of recognition..

gd luck!
