This question can probably go either way. It depends on many factors such as the branch of service they were trying to get back or go into. You would have less of a chance going into the Marines or the Air Force, but have a greater chance of getting into the Army. Then, it would also depend on the recruiter.

If you were a former drug abuser and was put out for being hot on the piss test, then no they will not let you back in, you are in the computer system all in the military system. If you were a heavy drinker then they would take you back in unless you committed a felony while being drunk.

You are required to be clean or sober for a minimum of 12 months. Now, whether they will reenlist you would depend on your record & reason for discharge.

If you were discharged for substance abuse, then NO. You never can. As previously stated, take your DD 214 to a Recruiter. Ensure it has the RE-Code and SPN Code on it.

It depends on your re-enlistment code on your DD-214. Typically being discharged under this sort of circumstances gives you a permanent, non-waiverable 'not eligible' for re-enlistment.

i guarantee that the navy won't take them, and the marines won't take them because they fall under the department of the navy. also, the air force will laugh in their face. the army might be able to, depending on the incident.

Do you mean "former" abuser?

Yes. They'll take whoever they can get at this point.
