It is an unclean food; pigs are scavengers; they are the filthiest creatures. It's in the Bible.(Lev.5:2; 22:5) They're here to clean up the wastes of the earth. If you looked at a piece of cooked ham under a microscope; you would be shocked of what you'll find; it's really disgusting why people would eat pig when Jesus didn't or the Apostles!
** TEXTS THAT INVOLVE THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS:
GEN.18:7-8; LEV.11; 20:25; DEUT.14; ISAIAH 66:17; EZEK.22:26; DAN.1:8; MATT.3:4; LUKE 24:41-43; ACTS 10:10-14; 1COR.3:16-17; 9:27; 2COR.6:17; AND REV.21:8.
----TO ME; IF THE CLEAN AND UNCLEAN MEATS WEREN'T VALID FOR TODAY; THEN WHY OH WHY WOULD THE LORD PLEAD WITH FLESH NOT TO EAT UNCLEAN MEAT--(ISAIAH 66:15-17).
ALSO NOTICE DEUT.14:4 "SHALT NOT EAT ANY ABOMINABLE THING" AND REV.21:8 "...THE ABOMINABLE SHALL HAVE THEIR PART IN THE LAKE WHICH BURNETH WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH."

The key word in the Old Testament is cloven hoof.
in Leviticus 11:7
The pig, because he has a split hoof, and is cloven-footed, but doesn't chew the cud, he is unclean to you.
The reason for the law was to protect Jews - rescued slaves in this case from a disease called trichinosis

Nothing, if you cook it properly. Pork caries certain bugs that cause problems. But proper curing or cooking kills them... There was, and still is, under the dietary laws of the Jews, a prohibition against eating pork. These dietary laws do not apply to those of the Christian Faith.

because in many religions, god cast out evil spirits into the pigs, and to eat them would make them sick. Its based on 2 facts, first , pigs are very receptive to a disease that can kill people, trychosomiasis, and it is more prevalent in the warmer climates. the second reason goes back long before the bible was written when people would eat their enemies if they fought well in battle but were killed, in order to take their spirit into themeslves.Pork tastes like human flesh, and the leaders didn't want others to start liking the flavour again since that also spread diseases like mad cow.

The animal is designed to scavenge and has no way to rid the body of poisons.
Deu 14:7 Nevertheless these ye shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the cloven hoof; as the camel, and the hare, and the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof; therefore they are unclean unto you.

Jews can, indeed, touch pigs (live ones). The Torah gives signs for a kosher animal and pig isn't it. We accept God's word because it is his word. No other reason is necessary. It isn't that pigs are "bad" or "dirty" but just that God said "Don't eat 'em."

The Word of God forbids the eating of pork and all other unclean animals.
Seventh-day Adventists also do not eat pork, catfish or shellfish etc.

Pork Fat Rules.
Burgers without bacon? No way!!!
I've enjoyed eating pork for over 40 years. I eat the ears, the snout, the belly, the liver, the jawl, and more...
If such pleasure absolutely causes the finish of my lifetime, well so be it. Damn what a ride!!!

It's very dangerous if you don't cook it right. Almost all food taboos in religion can be traced back to health. Trichinosis is very common in pigs if cooked incompletely.
