I live in a German town, so it was almost a must to learn to make these. They're so simple and they don't cost as much as if you were to buy one. Not sure if you want the recipe, but here goes:

Funnel Cakes (Drechter Kuche)
3 eggs ..... 2 c. milk ..... 1/4 c. sugar
Beat the eggs, add milk & sugar
3-4 c. flour, divided
1/2 tsp. salt ........ 2 tsp. baking powder
Mix 2 c. flour with salt & baking powder, stir into egg mixture

Beat until smooth & add only as much more flour as needed (batter should be thin enough to run through a funnel)
Drop about 1/2 cup batter at a time through a funnel into deep, hot oil (350 degrees). Swirl the batter through the funnel to create intricate shapes by criss-crossing and controlling the funnel spout with your finger.
Cook on one side about 30 sec., turn & cook on the other side about 20 sec. Remove with slotted spoon. Serve hot sprinkled generously with powdered sugar.

these make a lot, so I usually make half a recipe.

I live in Biloxi and we don't have a place to buy them. You just make them. You make pancake batter and pour it through a funnel and cook it like like a pancake and when it's done pour sugar on top.
