I am 22 weeks pregnant and was allowed (by my doctor) to perm my hair last week-- warning-- it doesnt react the same so it may really be a waste of time. From reading it's okay after the first trimester and you are only at risk if you are the stylist with constant interaction with the chemicals. A perm or two spread out through your pregnany is not harmful. But again your hair will not react the same as it would have before

You are not supposed to dye or perm your hair until you are in your third trimester. Both the first and the second trimesters are the most vital to your babies development you don't want to use any chemicals that will be absorbed through your hair follicles, or that have strong odors that you can inhale. Best of luck, and congrats.

Well there are alot of chemicals involved in perming your hair so the obvious answer is NO.

But always consult your doctor for these kinds of questions instead of getting unqualified opinions or wrong advice on public forums.

I've asked lots of people that question and gotten lots of different answers. The consensus is that the chemicals MAY be damaging to an unborn fetus during critical stages of development. So, best bet- don't do it until you're well into your second trimester.

NO NO NO NO NO. The chemicals from any hair salon style that requires color. perm, etc. will absorb in your system therefore affecting your unborn's life.

on most women a perm wont take when your pregnent... talk to a proffesional they can tell you what kind of perm will take with your hair and if your hair is showing signs that it might not take.

hmm, not quite sure...i know it wasn't ok to color your hair until a few years ago when they made the new stuff without ammonia.
why don't you call your salon, and ask if she'll do it, becuase she knows what ingredients are in her stuff...
or, just don't perm.
