Some people say that, some people don't believe it.
I have some of my grandmother's ashes, and some of my uncle's, and all me and my family members bring them with us when we go on vacation somewhere great we think they'd like to have gone, so they can come with us, and we sprinkle some of their ashes so a part of them can stay there!
Whether you believe that sort of thing is fun and respectful or totally horrible depends on your individual beliefs. I believe also that ashes kept in an urn are considered interred because they have their final resting place, it's just not in the ground.

Keeping someone's ashes in an urn doesn't mean they aren't at rest. It's the same as burying the ashes...the ashes stay in the urn when they are buried. That's like saying someone can't rest because they're buried in a coffin. Even if you keep the ashes on a mantle, it doesn't mean they aren't able to rest.

Please don't be offended if you don't read the Bible... In many places the body is referred to as the vessel of the soul. When the soul leaves, the body is nothing more than a shell that is cast off.
I don't think that it really matters what you do with the body - as long as you respect the memory of the person. If you know the person wished for a certain thing, try to do that for them. If they didn't ask for anything to be done, do what you feel is right for those still living.

No. When my girlfriend(16yrs) died last year, some off her ashes were planted with an "October Glory" maple tree, some were saved for next years marijuana crop(so lots of people will be able to share in her glorious spirit) and her sister and I divided the rest between us in very nice black marble urns.

No, many people keep their elders' ashes as a sign of respect. Anyone that says they can't rest, is full of horse s*it and is freaked out by looking at the urn. tell them to grow up

No! At the moment of death, the soul takes flight. The body, ashes or dirt, is just an empty shell . When it comes to death, the living tend to angst over things that scare them and not what is true.Peace.

They are not inside the ashes. Don't worry.
The ashes have to be somewhere. The person is gone.

huh? Are you asking if people should keep someones ashes all together in one place, or if people should keep someones ashes instead of let's say, spreading them on the ocean or something?

Well its an urn. and it depends on certain religions. I think its a waste of space for everyone to be buried in a casket and then also in a vault. Waste of money also. You never know when we will run out of places to bury people.
