whatever u want almost. for ours, we had our own specific version of the vows. i went online and went through all kinds of sites and found the perfect combination and wording. just do a google for wedding vows. we gave him the copy of what we wanted a week or two before the ceremony for him to read it over and become comfortable with it. there should be many in your area u can call to see if they'll do this for you. congradulations!

That's how I got married. We just made an appointment and went to the courthouse. It's just you, your significant other, witnesses ( if you have any) and the justice of the peace. No big ceremony. The justice of the peace basically says the vows like a preacher or minister would. You say "I Do" and that's that. No big deal.

Our justice of the peace went over the whole ceremony with us prior to the wedding and tailored it to what we wanted. He came to the wedding site, did the 20 minute ceremony (which was beautiful), and it only cost us $40.

You can pretty much dictate how you want the ceremony to run when you have a JP/non-religious celebrant. References to god can be made, or they can be omitted. Your vows can be whatever you choose. You may have readings like at a religious wedding or not.

Basically as long as the JP obeys the laws of your location (in Australia they have to say what marriage is, that it is legally binding etc) and the proper documents are signed then you choose the format.

Each jurisdiction has a written vow you must take and agree to at the marriage ceremony. This may be just a civil ceremony as in not before God.

We paid $20 and the justice of the peace read the traditional oath ...do you take this man...etc. and there were two witnesses that I didn't know ...and then we signed the licensce and were on our way. It took about half an hour. Oh we had blood tests the week before.
It is easy to get married ...

You and your partner stand in front of a judge - the judge says all the verbiage and you repeat it - same with your partner. You kiss and that's it. You have to have 2 witnesses with you. All 4 of you sign documents and - wa la your married.

nothing different really
There is just no mention of the word God or any higher power
You say your vows
You promise to love and obey and all that
With this ring I they wed
No different just no GOD
