Sorry guy! I missed the 't' on the initial question.
It should have been:
Which one is right grammatically:
- Damages are mainly paint damages
- Damages are mainly paint damage
Sorry for the confusion.
A colleague told me the latter is correct, but I'm still unsure, as I can't find any reference to it in any grammar books.

I'm trying to describe paint damages to my car in a formal letter of complaint. What I write is:
As brought to your attention, damages are mainly paint damage caused by building material dropping; and in the case of my car specifically, chipped windscreen.
I initially wrote: damages are mainly paint damages. But a colleague told me that it was grammatically incorrect. I'm now confused.
