You've become dependant on the sleep medications. You might have to sit down & figure out why your mind won't shut down so you can sleep. I take Lunesta on the rare occasion that I have insomnia. It works great, doesn't make me feel groggy the next morning & I get almost 8 hours sleep. My doctor hesitated perscribing it for me only agreeing to write the Rx after I agreed not to use it too often.

To relax into sleep, I read a book, listen to relaxing music or meditate. Also, a warm bath, even in the summertime, will help you relax. I keep a lavendar & chammomile spray next to my bed to spray my pillows with about 30 minutes before I head to bed. If you don't want to do the warm bath, try chammomile tea. Hot or cold, it'll help you to relax & unwind to get to sleep. Good luck to you!

I'm sorry that you can't sleep. Here's a suggestion: 1) stop drinking caffeine after lunch, 2) try taking a warm bath an hour before bed, 3) drink calcium (milk) or take calcium pills 1/2 hour before bed, and drink Sleepytime tea also 1/2 hour before bed. Sweet dreams.

my dr. gave me samples of different kinds of sleep pills.(sonata, lunesta and ambienCR). I was previously taking ambien I had purch in Mex. I tried them all and still like ambien the best. but of course everybody is different . maybe your dr. will give you samples to try.
