Personally, I would stay away from Panasonic. They do not have a film camera business and thus you will have to send the camera away for service. With Kodak you may have half a chance to find local service or repair. Personally I would stay away from both and go with a company with a film business and local retail outlets and service centers. Check around locally, if you can find local retailers and service then you are better off if something goes wrong. I've had a few accidents with my camera and having local service saved my butt.

Of the 2, I prefer the Panasonic FZ7. The 2 are quite close, in price, and quality.
