Absolutely no purpose for hair on your toes but, there is hair all over your body even if you can't tell.

I don't know. I have these huge freaky looking feet with lots of hairs on these odd looking toes, with huge yellowish toenails. When I take my socks off, the smell can knock a person down! lol just kiddin

There's hair everywhere on your body to protect you and to keep you warm. Just so happens that the hair on your toes is longer + thicker.
