Shouldn't it matter if someone is a good person? For some people a god and all of that would seem crazy. If they are born into another religion and believe in that, it's not their fault, it's what they grew up with. If we are all "God's children" then why is he so quick to turn his back on people like this? I thought he was supposed to forgive people.

Being good is not enough and not even for a christian. We can't continue in sin and expect God to reward us Heaven. God is not willing to turn his back on us if we do the right thing and that's serve him wholeheartedly. God is merciful and forgiven but we must repent and turn away from that lifestyle or sin.

Who is to say who is good & who is not? I know many "good" people who lie, cheat, steal, lust and have no qualms about it nor any idea of ever changing because "at least I didn't murder" or "at least I didn't rob a bank." Doesn't matter - sin is sin. And as sinners we have no true undersatnding of justice - just our own warped human idea of what we think it should mean. The standard human view is to get everything I want without having to earn it. And that is exactly what we get through Jesus. Of course, we ahve to want what God wants, not what we selfishly want. That's the trouble right there. How many truly want God's will for them instead of running their own lives? And if we don't accept God's soverignty, how can we know what good is?

Others who never hear the Gospel are not held accountable for what they never heard. I understand that their faith will be counted as righteous and that will be enough to allow entrance into the Kingdom. But those who hear and refuse are accountable. I traveled that road for many ywars. I came to know Chirst at the ripe old age of 38. The onlyway I got there was by examining the aternatives. And looking at things from a realistic perspective will show that Christ is the only real solution. Every other way had more questions than answers.

You do make a good point. If we were "all God's children" your question would make sense. But we are not. We are all God's creation. Only those who accept Jesus are adopted into the family of God as His children.

And that, btw, is His avenue for forgiveness. He cannot satnd sin and cannot look upon it. Sin cannot be in God's presence at all. So we are washed clean by the atoning sacrifical blood of Jesus and welcomed into His family. And while this doesn't give us license to sin, we will slip up along the way. When we do, if we sincerely regret our actions and ask, we will continue to be forgive. But first we must submit our lives and wills to the care and grace of Christ Jesus.

To believe in a devil, hell, damnation, etc. would mean that God is imperfect, unloving, judegemental, and plays favorites...this is simply not truth...these are human qualities only...negativities that are part of this Earth life.
Each of us contains a piece of this great being...our soul/spirit...why would you imagine that no matter what, those pieces would not return from whence they came? We truly have no where else to go but Home to again be part of the wholeness.
By the way, if you have questions such as this, never be afraid to talk to God on your own...we all have this most natural ability...remember "seek & you shall find, ask & it will be answered...." ? You always have an open & direct line to that which you are...pure & unconditional love.

we're not all God's children. This is the problem. :) God sends people to Hell because good works can never get you to Heaven--you'd have to be perfect, since God is perfect. Is that ever gonna happen? Nope. Did God know about this? Yep. That's why He sent His Son to die a horrible death so that all could go to Heaven. How's that for loving?

I don't think God is so quick to Judge. I believe God give everyone time to turn to him. Even at the time of death. For we read in the most quoted scripture in the Bible. John 3:16 For God so loved the world..... It is his will that none should parish.... Our God is great, loving and merciful.... He would do what it took to allow each person make it and also he can keep his word....

I don't believe God sends people to hell for being of another religion. If you believe in the one true lord or if you lead a life that is void of killing and other outrageous sins, I don't see why people of a different religion would go to hell. We don't know what will happen when we die and that's the honest truth...that is why it is called faith....I don't believe God would ever turn his back on people. I don't know why they call it "God-fearing". He sent his one and only son to earth to be killed in order to save us. The ultimate act of love...

Well, it does seem that lots of Christians say you would go to hell as you say above. But guess what the Goddess would not do that. Especially the Chocolate Goddess...you can be skeptical if you want but She still won't send you to hell. But thing is, with all the chocolate, the peace, the love, the harmony, no one cares to be skeptical. So for me, its Goddess worship. Chocolate Goddess that is! OOh sorry some of you think I am hell bound..but maybe its a chocolate kind of place..sounds yummy to me!

God did not create people to send them to hell. He created them to honor and love him as he loves them. He created Hell for Evil (satan) which is sin. He is a Holy God, and knowing we could not be Holy on our own He came to be the final sacrifice for our sin. I'll explain hell like a washing machine. Your clothes that you love so much get dirty. You bought your clothes and worked for them. And knowing that the washing machine would wear them out and fade them, you don't want to throw them into it. Its the dirt and smell that you are trying to get rid of not your clothes. So you throw the dirt in the washing machine but your clothes are attached to it. The same with poeple. God throws sin into hell and if you are attached to it your going with it. BUT!!!! He made a way out through JESUS. Now you've heard about this Jesus from many different types of people that don't even know each other. Think about it, we can't all be wrong, there has to be something there.

God does not "send" anyone to hell. People send themselves to hell by living wrong and doing it deliberately.
People who are living the best they know how are going to heaven.
As for God forgiving..He can only forgive a person who is sorry. And in order to be sorry, I have to know I did wrong in the first place.

God doesn't send people to hell people have twisted the parable of Jesus in order to control and manipulate people in order to gain wealth and power. Hell according to Jesus is where we are in our selves when we sin. We create hell in our hearts when we take action that separate us from the perfect and pure love of God greed lust sloth etc etc.. Jesus makes the point over and over. People like the power and the feeling that being smugly superior gives them by being able to declare that another human is going to burn in hell.It has nothing to do with God. Its a false high, from pride and lack of humility. And it fills the baskets and political agendas of the false prophets Jesus said would come. So if your preacher is preaching hell. He is on a ego trip. not a God trip. Pray for him.
