I would download avast anti virus and scan. I had something strange popping up on IE and all other scans from other anti virus was missing it, but avast anti virus found it and removed it. It does take a long time for avast to scan the entire hd, but it was worth it.

I have used all beta versions of IE7 so far and I am now back on IE6. IE7, while nicer looking, is currently full of all sorts of bugs. With Beta 3, my computer's HTTP connections (no matter through what program) kept failing and sites such as Hotmail just would not load (a Microsoft 'own goal').

I suspect that your problems are also due to a bug in IE7 and it will only be solved once you have un-installed it. To do this:

1. Load Control Panel (e.g. Click on Start and then Control Panel).
2. Click on "Add or Remove Programs" (or double click on it if Control panel is in classic view mode).
3. Check the option "Show updates" on top of the Add or Remove Programs window.
4. Scroll down to find "Internet Explorer 7" (this might be under "Windows XP Software Updates").
5. Select it and click on the button on the right to launch the un-installation wizard, which will guide you through removing the program.

Note that you may need to turn your computer off and then back on, after you have removed IE7, for it to start behaving normally (restarting the computer may not be enough).

If you then miss IE7's tabbed browsing, download Firefox from Mozilla.org and use that instead of IE6.

Though using a different browser is not a bad idea, I would suggest you get a good anti-virus and scan your computer. Make sure you have a current virus/trojan/worm definition FIRST. If you can't get your hands on a good anti-virus program, check http://housecall.trendmicro.com and scan from there.

Also, make sure you have all the latest Windows Updates properly installed.

Now, I'm pretty sure the prompt you get is caused by a virus. I haven't used IE7, so, I might be wrong there. If you still have IE6 installed, you can test it out. A virus would most likely infect that version at the same time.

Again, I haven't used IE7 yet. It might be working as intended, but I doubt it.
