You would explain it the same way as if you were explaining how the tooth fairy is real.

Psa 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

Tell your friend that you can look at the stars
moon and nature and know that there is a superior being. You can hold a baby in your hands and look at a miracle that only God could
give.Look At our human body the way it functions everything is running in perfect perfection for it to grow. Even though you can't see AIR you know it is real just because you can't see God doesn't mean He is not real no
more than you could say AIR is not real because you can't see it. If all the air was suddenly removed you would see how real it is.
The same way you can see a difference in a person that has trusted God's Only Begotten
Son to save them. There WILL BE A DIFFERENCE in that person he will change to
be more like Jesus every day.I have see drunkards changed to be Loving Husbands,I
have see young children go on and become missionary's and preachers. The ONE MARK
THAT GOD PUTS ON MAN IS A CHANGED LIFE. Praise the Lord!
Tell her to read the Book of Saint John.

The best way to explain God is for people to see Him in you in your everyday life. How you handle life's problems, how you treat others, your speech, and manorisms. These things that are reflective of God are addictive to those that are exposed to them. Then eventually God will give you an opening for you to bring Him into the topic of conversation. You can also occasionally invite your friend to Church with you. It doesn't amtter if they turn you down. God is pleased with what you are doing on His behalf.

Continually keep your friend in prayer. In every life of a non believer, there will come a day when God will lay them flat onto their backs, forcing them to look up at Him. They can either choose to follow Jesus and accept Him as their savior, or not. But it will be a choice that they made, and you will be in God's favor for doing what He expects of you as a Christian.
God bless you in all of your efforts to bringing glory to God through witnessing to your friend.

I would just continue being a good friend to her. Be there for your friend when she has questions, talk to her about it sometimes, but don't be confrontational.

When somebody doesn't believe in God, I always wonder how they think we got here in the first place. I hear that some people believe that they came from a family of monkeys (evolution). I'm glad that my ancestors weren't monkeys, I'm glad I was created with a purpose, I'm glad my life has value and meaning to it, I'm glad that when something good & yet unexplainable happens I have someone to thank. The saddest day in an atheists life is when he has something to be thnakful for, but no one to thank.

"Life is completely absurd. Every particle of it would move you toward some experience or other, and yet all experience conceals the ultimate message of the necessity for transcendence or freedom from experience. That one must attain freedom from something that is unnecessary to begin with is utterly absurd. Why bother with it to begin with?

Enlightenment is to Awaken from the seriousness of experience. It is not to despair or to destroy oneself. Despair is serious, and so is suicide. Self-indulgence is serious, stressful effort is serious, discipline is serious, interest is serious, knowledge is serious, death, sex, food, everything is completely serious. This movement or tendency to survive, to continue in independent form, is profoundly serious, and it is also absurd because it must be transcended. Enlightenment is to be restored to Divine humor, to realize that nothing is necessary. No experience is necessary. You can either become distracted by experience and repeat it, or you can transcend it. One or the other. If you have transcended experience, then it is no longer necessary. In that case, whether or not experience continues makes not the slightest bit of difference to you. Experience will come to an end with death in any case.

We are under the incredibly absurd illusion that there is an objective world "outside" Consciousness. There is not a shred of truth in this presumption. There is no world independent of Consciousness. The world is a modification of Consciousness, a play on Consciousness. It has no independent reality and no necessity. It is just possibility. What Consciousness does in terms of possibility in any moment is the drama of the seriousness of existence. When it Awakens to its true Position, which is senior to phenomena, then it is full of humor and there is no necessity to any experience. There is only Enlightenment, Divine Freedom."

Well, you can't make her get angry. But why should she be angry? If God is not real then what is the problem? If there is no god, then there is nothing wrong with you telling her, since 1) she knows better and 2) there is nothing morally wrong with you telling her so.

Dont tell her anything but that you beleive and let her beleive what she has a right to beleive. If you want to preach then Dont do it with words do it with your life. SHow her how you dont gossip show her how you feed the poor help the sick and how prayer and meditation makes you a happy and grounded person.
If you have something she wants she will ask you how you do it then you can tell her and it wont be a bunch of hot air it will have substance and meaning. Preach with your life and your actions thats what Jesus did and they went to him he didnt knock on any doors they knocked on his.

it is better to not believe in god than to believe in a god defined by religion.

You shouldn't, her beliefs are hers and hers alone. Unless she asks you for help believing in god, leave her alone.
