NO! Trainers never recommend having more than one puppy at a time. One puppy is hard enough to train, two is more than double the work. Most people are not able to housetrain two puppies at the same time. The puppies tend to bond with each other and not to the people. It is best to raise one puppy, and when he is trained and about two to three years old, then you can get another puppy. The puppy at that point will have a role model to learn from.

I agree with Simi. I kept 2 puppies from my last litter and it is so much harder than one. I would suggest getting one and then adding another in a year or two. They will also tend to bond more with each other than with you.
Dachsies are VERY busy dogs and I can't imagine raising 2 at the same time.

It's a great idea. Two dogs have each other for company, and so go through less separation anxiety when no one in the family can be home with them. And one male and one female probably won't aggressively compete with each other as would two same-sexed dogs.

As long as you have them spayed and neutered, there is no reason not to. I have always had more than 1 dog at a time, and as long as you feel comfortable having 2 dogs it's alot of fun and it is also good for the dogs to have the company of each other as long as they get along, which should be no problem as long as they are trained properly.

This is fine as long as you have them fixed so they don't have puppies. There are too many unwanted dogs and cat in this world already. Actually they would get along better than two females or two males.

If you want to have puppies, it's a good idea, or if you want them to be playmates so they won't be lonely. But some dogs together might really fight and not like each other, so you need to test them out first so they're okay with each other.

I have seven dachshunds and it seems to me they buddy up in pairs. but I do not see them not bonding with me, Everywhere I go in the house or the yard, I have 28 lil pitter patter of paws following behind me, they are excellent little house dogs and excellent companions!

Yes, this is one of the best things you can do for them. Good on you. At least this way they have company, even when you simply haven't got the energy.

As long as one or both are neutered(unless you want pups), I think it is great. Dogs do better in pairs.
